I've stumbled across some games that I really enjoy that are really similar to Sonic.
Socket: Time Dominator and Zool spring to mind, and I really love both of these games. Any others anyone can think of?

While not on Genesis, Superfrog is pretty much a Sonic rip-off and is pretty good.
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
Kid Chaos is even more of a sonic rip-off than Superfrog on Amiga, good game though.
It's not really a ripoff, but Pulseman is fantastic.
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure was another Sonic ripoff. It played pretty good as well.

Why the hell are all games that have speed and spring pads automatically Sonic ripoffs ? IMO, these games have practically nothing to do with Sonic, only speed and springboards, nothing else.

Yeah I find it annoying that all platform games are branded either Mario or Sonic rip-offs. Before Sonic came along every platform game was called a Mario rip-off, its not like Mario was the first platform game, although you'll often hear it cited as so.
Oh, I totally agree...but I figure if they're sonic ripoffs, there is a strong likelihood that they aren't bad. By branding a game as such, the suggestions I've had so far seem good. I mean, what kind of responses would I get if I asked "hey, anyone know any good 'Bubsy' or 'Aero the Acrobat" ripoffs?"

I think Super Mario Bros. was the first sidescrolling platform game, but I'm not really sure.Originally Posted by playgen

Nope it wasn't, Pac-Land precedes it by several years, and there were others.
Hm. Thanks for telling me that. I got my source from a list of video game "firsts", I guess it was wrong.
