The untimely death of Raul and his ascension to greatness is totally real.

A cigar is as good as memories that you have when you smoked it.

Just watched Iron Man again. What a cool little film. I wonder if Jon Favreau can direct a movie he can't put himself into, though?

It's ok for a director to have a part in his own movie...as long as it is a very small part.

    Some examples of acceptable roles:

    "Pizza delivery guy"
    "Guy in resturant"
    "Caller #4"
    or
    "Man in Cab"

Sam Raimi had half a dozen roles in "Army of Darkness" but they were really small, pointless roles.

For Hitchcock it was one of his trademarks, though he hardly ever had a speaking role, just a cameo (often only on a picture of a prop newspaper or as a shadow on the wall).

    M. Night Shyamalan's self-insertions however... those are way over the line! Seriously, his self-insertions keep getting bigger and bigger... what's next, his next movie being just all about him?

Oh, and the insertions of Stan Lee in all those Marvel movies? They range from okay (old guy drinking a soda in "The Incredible Hulk") to ridiculous (like... um... a nightwatchman along Lou Ferigno in the first Hulk).
The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?

At least when Kevin Smith did it, he gave himself the non-speaking role.

And Stan Lee was awesome in "Mallrats", yeah he was playing himself...but it was fun.

I hope you mean that as in, indefinitely. Ex-mas shopping makes me want to eviscerate everybody.

You aren't kidding. Stan Lee's cameos are getting more and more masturbatory, as well. To this day I still wince when I think of his gratuitous moment in Spiderman 3 where he says "I guess it's true what they say: One man can make a difference."

Tobey Maguire might as well have just pulled an Austin Powers and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen . . . Stan Lee!!!!"

From what I heard about "Spiderman 3", Tobey saying that might have actually helped the movie.
