To put custom firmware on the Memory Stick, though, I *had* to use a program designed for Windows XP; it just didn't work on my Vista laptop.
right, that's what I'm talking about, can I put it on the memory stick using XP in Parallels on my Mac OS X. If you aren't familiar with what I'm talking about, the new Intel macs have the ability to run windows on the desktop, but I'm not sure what the limitations are, especially pertaining to hardware. I guess I need to go to a PSP specific site, but I'm scared I'm just gonna get a "search noob" response and no real help.

A guy at work was going to trade in his launch PSP (perfect condition) for credit towards a PSP slim. So we cut out the middle-man, and I gave him $60 for it.

I NEVER thought I'd buy a PSP, I'm a Nintendo Handheld fan through and through. Maybe it's because I've been burned by so many other companies before. Right now I only have Virtua Tennis (waaaaay too much loading time), Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (surprisingly great), and Final Fantasy Tactics.

I own a DS Lite for a handheld experience: quick bursts of fun while on the go. I own the PSP for a console experience whenever I'm unable to play my ACTUAL consoles.

if you convert your PSP to custom firmware and use ISOs instead of the real UMDs it takes like 1/10 of the loading time. There is no way I would ever own a PSP if it weren't for the ability to emulate so many different games on it. Well, maybe if it was like $50 new for the system and like $10 or less for each game (used, whatever).

Not a clue. Worst thing that can happen is you need to re-format your Memory Stick and start from the beginning.
