Is that Johnny Chimpo? You know, that newfangled Afghanimation stuff?
Picked up a 2nd Dreamcast controller today at the Thrift store for $3 and Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2) for $1
Got a nice bunch of stuff off Craigslist tonight:
-Genesis 2 w/power, RF, and 1 controller
-Multiplayer tap
-6 loose games (sonic 1/2, MK, toy story, andretti racing, lethal enforcers)
-2 boxed games (golden axe, pacman2)
-2 Justifiers (blue and pink!)
I never thought I'd find the Pink Justifier in good condition in the wild, especially at the low price I paid for the lot.
While in Austin, I checked out a cool little retro gaming store that was in the mall. I picked up a really clean looking Die Hard Trilogy (Saturn) for $14 and the A/V cords for my model 1 Genesis for $10. I plan on posting a few pics of the front of the store, that show the cool window display of retro consoles.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
-Ape Escape 3, complete, $10 USD.
-HDG Genesis $10 @ Goodwill.
If I'm not mistaken, it's a VA6 with TMSS, and the ext port.
If this is what a VA6 board looks like, then I seem to have another non-HDG VA6, that's non-TMSS, and has a blanked out ext port.
Neither of the VA6s display rainbow banding like my VA3, but I prefer the darker look of the VA3. I'd swap the top shell of my VA3 to one of my VA6s but I'm too damn much of apussypurist.![]()

Just got my winning from Sega's Free Stuff Friday a bit ago!
Mysterious Bix box filled with peanuts!
Aliens Infestation Bundle!
The Aliens Infestation bundle from Sega has:
1 copy of the DS game Aliens Infestation
4 sprite art buttons
1 piece of lenticular art from the game, comes with a frame! I guess there were only about 200 of these made too.
The best part, totally free directly from Sega!
Nice! The buttons and lenticular art with the frame looks great!
Just one question, was the apple in the box too?![]()
What's TMS and why is it more demanding than a standard HDG genesis??
***Visualshock! Speedshock! Soundshock! Now is time to the 68000 heart on fire!***
A console with TMSS, or Trademark Security System, is less desirable than one without it. TMSS itself isn't really the issue -- what it does is lock out a couple of early unlicensed games, but there's so few of those that it's not really worth mentioning. What TMSS signifies however, is that the console in question is a later revision (as TMSS was introduced about a year after the Genesis was released) and those consoles have slightly cheaper, lower quality hardware. Especially the sound hardware is better with the earlier, non-TMSS consoles.
Also, non-TMSS consoles don't have the license screen that shows up when you power on the Genesis. That saves you a couple of seconds in startup time.![]()
Night of the Demon
Now I can retire my worn VHS copy. If you're into 80s horror movies, here's a lost gem that you should definitely give a try. It has a good amount of gore and some really disturbing situations (Big Foot rape being one).
Gekijouban Macross F: Sayonara no Tsubasa - Hybrid Pack (Blu-ray movie and PS3 game combo) and Bomber Raid (Two Mega Power!)

Just won an auction for a loose Super Famicom on eBay for $31. I've always been curious about the Super Fami and I managed to snag one for a fairly reasonable price. I'll be modding it to fit SNES games so it's not confined to the few SFC games I have.
