Went to the flea market today. This was not only the first time I've gone without my wife, it was also the first time I've been there right as it opened up. These two elements made it different experience than I've been used to. What was interesting about being there so early is that most of the sellers were still setting up, so there was a lot of walking around waiting for the merchandise to come out. Also, as the crowds hadn't shown up yet, I was able to get a better sense on the "behind-the-scenes" aspect of the flea market, being privy to a lot of conversations between regular sellers, who were bragging to each other about the stuff they bought on the cheap from the one-timers who had already gotten set up. It was a little discouraging.

I found the first deal almost right away: this green GameBoy Pocket (with a Frogger game locked and loaded) WITH the battery cover.
    $8.00

It was slim pickings after that for a while, since most of the sellers weren't ready until between 8 or 9. Eventually I found this tweaker-looking old woman who was selling all kinds of crap. She had a thrashed old GameBoy DMG, which I didn't even bother asking about at first, as well as this thing, which I guess is a protective case for the GameBoy. She sold the case to me for $1.00, which encouraged me to ask about the GameBoy. $2.00 for the GameBoy, which has clearly seen better days, but it's better here with me in my house than baking out there in the sun.

After paying for the stuff, I stuck the GameBoy in my pocket and walked off feeling pretty good about myself. A few seconds later, the woman's husband comes running up to me and tells me he'll give me two options:
    A. I can come back and pay for the stuff I'd just stolen
    B. He can call the cops.

    I chose a third option:
    C. March back with him to his wife so she can make him look like a fool.

After the wife vouched for me, I looked at him and waited for him to apologize. He didn't.

By this time, all the sellers had shown up, and so had the crowds. I circled the place a bunch of times, picking over the same piles of crap that I'd checked before, just in case I'd missed something. I found a $5.00 bill on the ground and used it to buy Star Wars in the case. On my final lap, I found a new table with a silver GameBoy pocket in awesome condition with Tetris in the slot. They wanted $30 for it, which was pretty laughable. Their selling point was that it came with two games: Tetris and Missile Command/Defender. Still too much. I circled the place again and came back about ten minutes later. I offered $20.00 for the GameBoy, which she accepted on the condition that I could only have one game.

I owned the original 1997 release back in mid-to-late '98, played the hell out of it and then traded it for a copy of "Mega Man X3" (SNES), which ended up costing me only $5. One of the better transactions in my video game career.
the pre fight dialogue was hilarious in final bout, most of it sounds so wrong yet so funny. I never did see it in stores in the late 90s because of how few copies were made so I was surprised to see that it was reissued in 2004 so late in the playstations life.

if I had a chance to trade final bout for megaman x3 in the late 90s I probably would have done the same thing. I only saw x3 at toys r us once in the 90s and never saw it again so it was almost like it didn't exist, I eventually just imported the super famicom and sega saturn versions around 2005. do you still have your copy of x3?

Raisin-bar!! I've heard nothing but awesome stuff about that game!

Didn't get much this weekend, and didn't take photos so I'll just do a text post.

Went to the local media store and they had a couple good things. My wife got a Wallace and Grommit PS2 game, and I picked up a Metal Slug 4 & 5 set for the PS2, plus a copy of Warhawk for the PS1 in the longbox. It was for $8 per for the PS2 games and $5 for Warhawk. I probably overpaid at $5 for Warhawk but I'm a sucker for longboxes.

As I was checking out I asked if they had any cool stuff they hadn't set out, they did and I picked out a couple things. The first was a copy the N64 version of Super Smash Bros for $8, and then they had a minty copy(still had the original seal sticker at the top) of Tail Concerto for the PS1 at $30.

That's a more than I'll normally spend on a single game in the wild, but I just picked up Solatorobo and had heard good stuff about Tail Concerto (plus I'm a sucker for early Atlus releases). I still think I did pretty well on it though

Naw, sold it with the rest of my classic gaming collection over six years ago, it was one of the pieces that the store was willing to pay most for ($30 I believe). They then flipped it and sold it for $99.99.

It is awesome! I just wish you can turn down the sound effect of the ship firing. It's more annoying than the engine sound in the PC Engine Out Run!

Have you played Rayxanber II? Is it worth purchasing? I watched some game play videos on Youtube but nothing about it screams must own.

Rayxanber 2 is way better than 3 in my opinion. It's more playable. I can barely get past the first level in part 3 and the first level is crazy boring. Plus the sound effects are better in part 2.

Rayxanber II is a must have. It's pretty cheap like $15 so you might as well get it. It's very tough but I think the challenge is fun. To me it's worth it just for the music. Just see how awesome level 3 is with the mechanical crab http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyKk8ySOE2I

No spine card???? How dare you even think of posting here. The spine card is ESSENTIAL to your enjoyment of the game! You're supposed to either wear it as a little hat as you play or tape it to your face like a giant mustache.

I think the only import game I have with a spine card is my copy of Grandia. The rest don't have them.

All of my PC Engine CD games have the spine cards. I thought two of them might not of had them, but it turned out they were hidden in the manual.

Got a new save battery in the mail and I've already soldered it into my Pokemon Gold cart.
