Didn't SNK stop developing the metal slugs? I know Metal Slug 3 was the last of the great MS games, and it was also the last under the Future is Now SNK. I
know they publish it, but I remember Mega Enterprise made Metal Slug 4 & 5. I think (I think) SNK did Metal Slug 6 but it was so different. The backgrounds looked really strange, the scoring system sucked, all the new individual weapons the characters had yadda yadda...yet another franchise SNK has ruined. I don't have high hopes for MS 7...

Metal Slug 7 is also coming to Xbox Live arcade for those who want to wait.
Really? I always thought SNK developed all of the Metal Slugs. MS is one of those series that can never do wrong, and I really enjoyed 4 for what its worth. I hope this eventually makes its way to PSN or something as that would be the only way I could play it since for some reason I can't bring myself to buy a DS, or anything Nintendo for that matter.
The "real" SNK died off in 2001. The founder of SNK saw it coming, and founded a new company called Playmore shortly before SNK's collapse. Playmore then purchased all of SNK's properties, and later changed their name to SNK Playmore. In the interim, a few SNK games were done by obscure Korean developers (mainly KoF 2001 and 2002, and Metal Slug 4). Today, all SNK games are done by SNK Playmore. A large numer of SNK employees went to Playmore, and SNK Playmore's offices are in the same location that SNK had been in.
SNK Playmore does have a US division, but it's not the same as the old SNK US. They do not have a European division at all.

Why do people always call it "Battletoads & Double Dragon"? There's no ampersand in the title. The title screen, cover, and cart label all say "Battletoads Double Dragon". The commercial called it "Battletoads Double Dragon". Why must people insert ampersands where they don't belong?

probably because it doesn't make any sense that way. Sure "Battletoads Double Dragon" is what they called it, but it shouldn't have been. Also the same reason why people pronounce Lightening Force "Lightning Force," because it doesn't make any sense and sounds stupid to say "Lightening."
That reminds me, I always do that with the name of songs and stuff. I'll mispronounce them for some reason for a long time, then I'll actually read the name of the song and pronounce it correctly and it really messes up the song for me.

"Lightening" should be pronounced like "enlightening" without the "en". "Lightning" has one less syllable. I'm not sure if Sega was trying to be coy somehow or if they just screwed up and misspelled the title. Lightning is related to Thunder so I think it is supposed to be "lightning" (though it should most definitely be "Thunder"). "Lightening" means : the descent of the uterus into the pelvic cavity, occurring toward the end of pregnancy, changing the contour of the abdomen and facilitating breathing by lessening pressure under the diaphragm. I did not make that up. Somehow I don't think that is appropriate.
I always thought the title was supposed to be a pun. This is suggested by the subtitle, Quest for the Darkstar.
