I almost spent my day off at home playing video games, but instead I decided to go out game hunting. Good thing, too! I picked up the following games across three stores around town.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64 -loose) $4
Solar Jetman (NES - complete) $3
NES Open Golf (NES - complete) $6
I picked up seven other less-remarkable games, but only spent a total of about $45.
The good times kept rolling when I got home, too! The Solar Jetman game came with a bonus Bionic Commando manual and NES Open Golf included the manual for Mario Golf 64!
Plus, one of the other NES games has a really weird board. I might need one of you tech heads to help me identify it.
My copy of X Men COTA hasn't arrived yet even though Virtua Racing (from the same seller) came last Thursday. They shipped from Japan on the same day, so should I be worried that it got lost? Today is the estimated delivery date, and everything I've ordered from the seller, PlayImport, has arrived on or before the date they gave me. Is this usually expected with international orders? It's not trackable, so am I screwed if it never comes? I don't know what amazon has in place for situations like that. You'd think they would have put the two games in the same package, it's not like they weigh much.

PS1 RPGs have been shooting up in price and the prices I've seen for Tales of Destiny II are in the $80-$100 on ebay, that's why I thought about buying the other copy for $40 and doubling my money, but I didn't want to be "that-guy".
I don't mind reselling Pokemon games though to cover costs. Those are easy money when I find them normally with a dead battery for a couple bucks. Plus fixing the save battery in it is simple and adds another 15 years of life to them, so I consider it kind of preservation.

that's what kinda sucks about ps1 rpg's is the high prices, i'd like to buy some more rpg's for the ps1 but some of the insane prices have been putting me off. I don't remember most of these games being this expensive when I was actively buying ps1 rpg's from 2003-2007.
the used game stores over here ask ebay prices for their ps1 games so I don't find good deals on them too often anymore, though the $12 wild arms i got was a good deal. does your media store you go to by chance have a copy of these games?
elemental gearbolt
tail concerto
threads of fate
megaman legends 2
azure dreams
vanguard bandits
brave fencer musashi

An estimated delivery date is exactly that, just an estimate. Give it a little more time. Chances are it'll probably show up soon enough.
If enough time passes and it's still a no-show, contact the seller. It should be sorted out either way.
I used to (it's been a couple years now) get a ton of stuff off of Amazon directly and the various sellers on there, never had a problem. On the rare occasion that my stuff was deemed to be "lost in transit" I was either refunded or the items were re-shipped, and on one occasion they even used an expedited/priority mail service when re-shipping the package.
I think they have Threads of Fate, Vanguard Bandits and Musashi, but the prices on them aren't that good when you compare them to what you can buy them online at. I have no clue who does their pricing, but ToD2 was an exception in pricing this time. It can really be hit or miss though, something is either really overpriced or under-priced. Normally if they don't recognize a rarer game it goes into the $5 pile which is where I've found a lot of my sleeper hits (Like Koudelka, Deception, Saiyuki, and a plenty others).
It's all roll of the dice now though. I used to know some of the guys in the game room so they'd tell me if something cool had come in and not been set out yet, but they just redid the whole store and there is no dedicated games section, making a lot more stuff dependent on timing.
For the N64 that I borrowed a while ago, I still needed an expansion pack and an official Nintendo controller to be able to fully experience the games that I have. The thing is, those accessories tend to be damn expensive. Then I saw this auction on Ebay and realized it would be cheaper for me to get a full console package than to buy those accessories loose. So now I'm the proud(?) new owner of the following:

A Nintendo 64 console with 4MB expansion pack, official Nintendo controller and rumble pack. The controller's stick is okay, not completely lame but I feel it could be better. Maybe a repair project for the near future then. Total price of this package was €39. I also got a loose cart of Super Mario 64 to go along with it, just for the heck of it.
World Heroes Anthology PS2, I forget how cheaply difficult this series can be.
Now 3 games shy of 1,000 owned.
Broken console from Japan? That sounds vague enough to be a Neo geo or sega Saturn.
Hahaha, you got me. I bought 9 Game Boy Color systems.
I'd like to see the end result with that console when you fix it up.
As for me, there are actually two computer hauls I did not mention (at least I don't think I did).
Computer 1: Commodore 64
Came with the computer itself, power supply, one flight stick-type controller, Choplifter, Summer Games, two floppy drives (condition unknown), an RF cable and an S-Video cable. $75 for all this.
Computer 2: Amiga 500
Came with the computer itself, power supply, mouse, one external floppy drive, what I believe are two RAM expansions that plug on the bottom of the computer (they're encased in a metal shield that appears to be soldered to the add-on boards), documentation (most of it in French, which I don't mind, but would rather have in English), a set of Composite cables and a rather strange-looking RGB cable with a 6-pin DIN on the other end (what kind of monitor takes this plug?). This bundle was $45, but I can't use the computer without a Workbench disk, which I don't have.
And... heh, you got a broken console from Japan, and I bought a broken North American console from a local pawn shop today. This system was actually sitting in the shop completely disassembled for weeks, and I went back today to buy some 720KB floppy disks and saw that the console was still there. $10 got me the console in question, which is a 4GB Xbox 360 S. From what I've been told, the DVD drive is shot, but the console itself is in perfect working order, and from what I saw after having taken apart the DVD drive, the laser was rusted to the point where part of one of the POTs fell off. It will most likely need a new laser at this point. At the same time, I need to get either the original power supply for it or an adapter to use my Falcon Xbox 360 power supply on the console.
Yay sealed N64 games:
I gotta hurry. Gotta get these to VGA, these games would look so nice sitting on my shelf.
Naw I'm just fucking with you, these games are all going to be opened and played.
