The level design is quite challenging, but sadly I think it's uninteresting too.

This is boring. It strips Sonic of the big reason people enjoy playing his games -- speed -- by giving him a level layout which forces Sonic to tip toe through the level. These kinds of challenging hacks are fine for Mario games, but it doesn't work well for Sonic.

I don't know exactly how I feel about this one. It certainly does make it more challenging, but it also dumbs it down to basically every other platformer out there.

    Palette changes = I won't play it.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

They're not all terrible, y'know. In fact, Sonic: Pixel Perfect looks awesome, and the level design is (so far) pretty good. There was another one... "Sonic Remastered" or something, that had an overworld that let you choose acts/levels/savefiles that had dynamic palette-switching so that every act was at a different time of day, that was cool too. Pity Sonic Megamix is the only hack even close to complete, there's some promising stuff out there.

    It is not hard.
You only have to take things slow at times.

Which kind of takes away the entire Sonic-premise, I think.

I agree with Benjamin, this hack is nice, but itīs no Sonic anymore.
