I remember a few old commercials, such as one where Sega was accusing Nintendo for not having some hardware feature (I believe that feature was blastprocessing) and some other commercial where they were stuffing some junk into the Genesis and blabbering on how it makes it even better (possibly the 32x and/or Sega CD)

I'm not sure if this commercial existed, but I remember a commercial where there was a guy who was dressed in a Mario suit, but it was an extremely messed up Mario suit with a messed up mustache ect. that looked like a psychopath and there was a guy in a Sonic the Hedgehog costume that threw pies at the guy dressed up as Mario. For some reason I remember a commercial like that, but I don't know if it really existed?

There were loads of Megadrive ads in the UK, a lot under the guise of Pirate TV

Yes. My favourites are the Cyber-Razor Cut and the spinning Sonic 1 chair and NINJA ads. Sadly they're VHS copies converted to Quicktime converted to Youtube, but they're still brilliant. Sonic the Comic has something about a Mega-CD advert that's a couple of minutes long, re-creating the riverboat scene in Apocalypse Now, but I've not seen it.

In Germany I remember watching these weird MegaDrive-Ads with two guys in "Wayne´s World"-like getup. Really weird - and not very good, IMO.

Did those air in other countries as well?

I really liked that show. I remember the Mikey character they had that they moved around a screen. I've gotta see this show again.

All the US/UK Sega Saturn commercials sucked, unless I'm forgetting one. I can't remember a single spot that I enjoy. They tried to make it too edgy and in-your-face and it resulted in a largely repulsive campaign.

I think that the Saturn would have done way better if they did dubs of the Segata Sanshiro commercials instead of the advertisements we got over here. Another thing that would have helped was for Sega not to hire someone who got fired from Sony for not wanting to release Final Fantasy VII.

I watched an episode of Nick Arcade months ago; Ugh... it has not aged well. The show is very slow, the contestants bratty and the trivia uninspired. When it finally came time to play the games, the contestants only got like 15 seconds to play them! Nonsense! At the least I liked hearing the music that played whenever Mikey started walking.

On that note, does anyone remember "Get the Picture?" I wonder how that show has held up.

I always was annoyed with it because every episode I saw the damn kids would always pick something I played the crap out of like Sonic.

Sonic was played probably a total of 4 times in "Nick Arcade", two of those were the original, the other two was the infamous "Sonic 2 alpha" which was just recently leaked onto the internet.

Neo-Geo by far was the system of choice for "Nick Arcade" contestants. KING OF THE F'IN MONSTERS, "Magician Lord", "Ghost Pilots", "Alpha Mission II", "Blue's Journey" were among the most played games on the show.

I dont remember much of the Genesis commercials, but definatly nintendo. I always like the playstation commercials with Crash outside Nintendo HQ yelling for Mario and giving him shit. I never knew about the Master System until like nintendo 64 days.
