Ya man, don't smoke around the Neo or its cartridges. It WILL ruin it. It will also cut the resale value down by about 75%.

I don't smoke around anything in "my" house. I just smoke outside or in my old car. I hate the smell of stale tobacco and I simply do not smoke inside.
I want to quit too...but everytime I lite up...I dunno, tobacco is just so damn soothing.

He could just sell Metal Slug 1 at ebay and actually would have earned at least a few hundred bucks.Originally Posted by 17daysolderthannes

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.

how the hell can you work 3 jobs and still go to school?
I wasn't always working 3 jobs and finished most of college before I got into hard core game collecting, saved most of my money and now I have lots of stuff to spend it on.
Now i'm just finishing up my classes online and only actually go to 1 class a week ( my only day off). So now there is time for a third job.
Edit: A year ago, I could never have afforded what I have now. I used to have a total of 20 games and just the systems (2) my parents bought me.
Now I have 11 systems and almost 300 games.
Two of the jobs aren't very many hours either, but pay fairly well and one I make good money.

Post a picture of your new Neo Geo stash!
Dudes, I just put a down payment. I am paying it on lay away, so I don't get the system 'till its paid off. $250 down and I have 4 months to pay it off. Once its paid off, I can take it all home...I meant I 'got it' as in reserved it...sorry to let y'all down.

Keep all the games that come with your purchase, you'll regret selling the "cash cow" games to replace them with less than desireable "ports".
And you're right, The Neo Geo is the pinacle of all home systems. There's nothing quite like it and the games are for the most part, amazing.
If you haven't already visited neo-geo.com, do so. It's a fantastic web site with some great forums.
Here's my SEXY Neo Geo, slightly modded![]()

Agreed, Neo Geo is awesome, theres no other console quite like it. Ports of Metal Slug on other consoles just don't capture the magic of playing it on the real hardware - especially with unlimited continues. The big arcade controller, giant cartridges, the fact your playing on something you could only dream about as a kid because of the out of reach prices.
Quick question:
How do I know if this is a Japanese system or an American system?

Well for one thing you'll be missing bouncy boobs and red blood in fighting games. You can change the BIOS for one that can switch between regions and such, so its not such a big deal if its US.
- "slightly modded" he said... Sexy!
Now that I see the S-Video mod: There's next to no way to play via RGBs in the US, is there ? No CRT with RGB-Scart ?
Edit: Did a quick ebay.com search and this was the only one I could find that takes RGBs:

Edit #2: ...well, there's also this one but I am not sure if it accepts RGBs or 'only' RGBHV (VGA):

All Neo Geos are region free, so it doesn't really matter in terms of playing non-US carts. But if you have a Jap system, the default language is gonna be Japanese. Many games allow you to change the language to English though. At minimum, you should consider a Bios update. This way you can change the default language to English.Originally Posted by Tanegashima
I'd say you've got a good deal from what I can see. I'm not to familiar with Neo Geo games, but I'd say you got a good deal, especialy considering that I can't even find an AES on Ebay or amazon.
