This is the internet. It means nothing. Don't believe otherwise.
Again, I missed this email.
The internet isn't serious business now? You guys gotta let me know this stuff geez.
I think at least to a point (With me almost completely) the system matters. Hell, this is a SEGA fan forum, Sega when it made consoles and not just mediocre games. I would imagine nearly everyone on these boards cares at least a little bit about the specific systems they play or else most wouldn't be here.
Also, the whole "internets not being real/serious/doesn't matter" statement is not only totally obvious, but played out. It's not 2004 anymore when that might have come off as witty or smart, sorry. Everyone has their opinion and is entitled to it, and I'm pretty sure if I met 17daysolder in real life and we talked about video games, I think he would say the same thing he said in his post.
Already tried it. Didn't live up to the hype.
It's not elitism, its me not liking the way Microsoft does business or anything about the XBOX or XBOX 360. Pay yearly (or monthly, whatever it is) fees to play online when Sony offers it for free? Pay almost the same amount of money as a PS3 for an inferior system (once you get an XBOX 360 similarly equipped to a PS3)? Suffer the worst controllers this side of the NES/SNES/3DO/CD-i? Have a lineup that consists of 95% FPS crap? No thanks. I tried to like the 360, but once I actually looked into getting one, I almost threw up at the thought of it. The words "rip off" "scam" "piece of shit" and "god awful" come to mind when I think of the heXBOX 360. It's not about being a fanboy or an elitist, its about being a smart consumer, and that's one product I'm not going to be any part of.Originally Posted by Mister X
Damn straight I would, I've almost started fist fights over it (not really, but I do want to slap people when they buy XBOX 360s).Originally Posted by AD2101

I'm ditching Yahoo! they gotta be diverting all of my email to some other me. Your supposed to grow out of this kinda stuff?
I still see it all of the time, people passionately arguing about games and gaming consoles. To a point, I think its healthy, like a sports rivalry, but at the end of the argument everyone should realize that every console has something to offer, and that none of them really suck. I think 17daysolder was just kidding however (just going on when he said "not really").
As a kid the playground arguments between Genesis and SNES could get rough, but nowadays I'd probably only fight someone over something as trivial as video games if it was gonna be really funny, or a fight I would win. Of course my friends and I all almost fought each other arguing whether or not a tomato is a fruit of a vegetable, so I probably shouldn't be talking about this matter.
I agree... more people need to realize that each console has different stuff.
When I was just a midget, I had Mario on the Game Boy and Sonic on the PC, and when I first got the Internet when I was 8 or so I saw that people were fighting over which was better and it was implied that you could only like one or the other. I wondered why you weren't allowed to like both, since each was vastly different.
It should be the same for these consoles. It's just a bunch of chips in a box, not something to kill each other over. People always try to get me to argue why the Wii, which is the next-gen console I have, is better than the 360 or PS3, and all I'll say is that each is different and has its own library of games, meaning that none of them have anything over the others, and they get mad and decide to hate on me because they're unable to convince me that their favored system is the best. Some people are just silly.
whoah ho, way to to miss the "not really" in parenthesis there chief.Originally Posted by Elusive
#1 you act like I'm the only one here that has ever had anything positive or negative to say regarding console hardware. Would you like me to list how many MILLIONS (hyperbole, I hope you know what that means) of posts on here with people proclaiming how the Neo Geo AES/MVS is the most amazing piece of gaming hardware ever on the face of the earth and nothing can ever compare to its greatness? At the same time, how many people refuse to go near a Super NES because of slowdown or bad controllers (though the controllers do definitely discourage me from playing a great deal, if anyone ever makes a mod to convert a 6-button Genesis controller to an SNES controller, I'd like to know).
#2 Where have I ever SERIOUSLY ever come close to implying "violence"? Do I have opinions? yes. At least mine aren't some regurgitated bullshit that came from some other forum or some random dude at a GameStop sometime (like that FF VII is the best game ever or that Sonic 3 and Knuckles is better than Sonic 2, psssh, yeah right!). The whole point of discussion forums is to exchange ideas, information, and OPINIONS. You can get ideas and information from Wikipedia, so why are you here if you don't want opinions?

Yo that Snes is better than genesis jive talk is still heard around my hood. Got in a fight the other week over a kid braggin on some mario shit. I gave im a snitches scar an broke his controller on the pavement. Said whatchu talkin bout six button controller, man thats a 4 button with some shoulder pads on it

I've found that demo/display units of consoles are more often than not non-working in some way. All the way back to the 32-bit generation. Even the ones that the public can't play or physically touch.
I'd expect that both 360 and PS3 systems would over suffer from overheating in those tiny display cases.
Wow, they really could've used you in the marketing teams for the 3DO, Jaguar, TurboDuo and Neo Geo.Originally Posted by 17daysolderthannes

LOL, I don't think I could've done them much good, they pretty much dug their own grave by making the systems cost so damn much without a significant enough adult user base to support them.Originally Posted by Black_Tiger

Black_Tiger: It's even worse with example DSes. Good luck finding one of those without a touchscreen that looks like it's been sandpapered.
