If you want to lose weight fast, it is much more effective to eat six small meals divided throughout the day. It keeps your metabolism rate going. Metabolism burns protein and fat. Burning protein is also good for muscle development. More muscle, less fat.
Obviously, keep an eye on your calorie intake. If you're a lazy bastard that doesn't work out or go outside, then keep those meals really small and you will STILL lose weight.
It's no misconception, it works. 6 small meals a day is better but also much harder to keep up, most people can't. The effectiveness of a died must take into account it's viability.
EDIT: I'm not debating the health benefits, only the fat losing benefits, if you want health eat 6 small meals a day.

Why is it harder? If you keep eating throughout the day, you will be less hungry than if you eat two superhuge meals a day. Being less hungry also means you are going to pack less fat.
Obviously a diet such as this should go hand in hand with a workout schedule for optimal results. I recommend he start lifting weights instead of doing simple cardio. You're going to lose weight much faster and pack on muscle at the same time.

It just takes a little planning if you have a busy job or schedule, but in Tasuke's case, I doubt that he has any of those.
I think the biggest problem for him would be to eat healthy food. Apparently that's much harder to do out there, especially in a backwater town like the one he lives in. You'd have to prepare your own meals. His mom doesn't look that slim either, so I'll take a guess and say they're all on a bad diet and it's the first thing he'd need to change if he were to do something about his current situation.

Have you actually tried it? I did, it's torture. Messes up your days, feels like being trapped, makes you crave the better days of normal meals all the time, etc...

I've tried at least 4 times to change the meals here into more healthy stuff, I can get it going for awhile but now we're back to steak and french fries -_-, it's the problem of depending on your parents for food.
So I'll take a guess and say you're right.

Yes, I have tried it. I've been eating 3 bigger meals and 3 smaller meals alternating for years now. Granted, I was never overweight (actually underweight), but it helped me a lot to get a healthy lifestyle going. Thanks to my brother, who is a personal trainer and fitness instructor, I've learned a lot about healthy diets and proper exercise.
It becomes much easier to do if you combine it with a good workout. I work out 3 days a week and it gives you a much better appetite to boot.

Scheduling workouts and diets and keeping track of them obviously takes some motivation and dedication to keep going, so it helps if you know somebody that can help you.
If I lived near Tasuke I'd love to help him. Feelsgoodman.

All this stuff is out there on the internet as well, so there shouldn't be an excuse for not knowing. And I'm sure there's a local gym near where Tasuke lives, so he could go out and ask for instructions. It just takes willpower and a pair of balls to go and do it.

Starving yourself works great for losing weight. I did that a few years ago and never got the weight back. I look like a proper concentration camp victim, just like God wanted.

Just look at Africans if you do not believe me.

Came to earth to troll anime conventions. There was a mega drive there with golden axe and a single controller. That didn't make any sense. There was an NES with 2 controllers, but it had Super Mario...
