Got the game a few days ago. It's very basic and mostly a grind-fest, not really much more. Very generic. I spent hours grinding my way up to level 15 or 16 and bought tons of healing crap, but the Black Cat thingy in the first dungeon keeps casting poison cloud which really kicks my ass. I have all of the best gear. I may try again, but the dungeon he is in takes forever to crawl through. Oh well, I guess I need to grind, grind and grind some more. That's all this game is. Not very balanced. The menu is also weird. It takes forever to back out if you want to do something simple like check your status. The Save menu is also odd since you must press "B" to get the cursor back to the top and then START to get back out. The only other way out of the menu is to load the game you just saved. Very unintuitive. Do actual humans who play games test these things? Apparently not, because that should have been caught and fixed, period. At least it's not as glitchy as beggar Prince which was a very poor product all around.

However the quality of the box seems to be slightly better than the quality of Beggar Prince's box.

I can tell you after the grind-fest of the first dungeon, the game actually gets easier and easier (especially when you get the second and then the third party member). At the end of the game you'll without doubt be on max level and kick the final boss' ass in two rounds (at least I did) .

Brandon, sorry to ask for help so early on in the game, but when do I get more people in my party? I've only been to the first two towns in the game. I've bought all the best weapons/armor, flashlight, and have 1 out of 3 keys but I can't seem to advance past these two towns. I've been around the map as far as I can go without dying and I haven't seen any more towns. Plus the enemies are getting rediculously strong as you venture out further. I tried going to that underground place but I don't make it far before dying. It seems if I just had a second person attacking with me I'd be fine.

Also twice earlier, the game's audio all of a sudden became high pitch and a bit muddy. It seemed to fix itself by turning the system off, pulling the cartridge out, putting it back in and turning it on again. Maybe it's just my Genesis system?

^sounds like your system causes the audio problem not your Wukong.

Just played for 2 hours. I dyed a lot but made it up to a big bear. I can't beat him though I need some sort of pig sidekick to help.

Also it was probably my Genesis. I didn't experience any audio glitches. Although I did spawn in a wall! I should've pulled out my capture card for it.

BIG EDIT: I spawned inside a wall again! My capture card refuses to take video from the Genesis so instead I just took a picture.

This is the exact spot I appeared when entering the dungeon:

I've entered this place about 25 times and twice I've appeared there. I can't move left or right but it let me move up. It's a big shortcut in this dungeon since your practically at the boss.

You must defeat the Black Bear Demon before advancing any further. This is an encounter that Wukong must face alone. If memory serves, you can beat him with Wukong at level 13, after enduring a tricky battle (lots of healing and detoxifying from poison attacks). Although the higher level Wukong is, the easier that first boss battle will be.

That would be my guess; the game was tested fully on just about every known model (and variant) of the Genesis, Mega Drive, many official clone systems and several unofficial clone systems, and there were no audio problems experienced on any machine.

I am absolutely loving this game so far! Just got Wujing and beat that water boss.

Plus I found another wall glitch. This one isn't random though, you can do it anytime.

This is in the flower cave where you find the second boss.

You spawn here when you enter:

However that wall to the right of you isn't solid, you can walk right through it:

You can screw around in the wall and even get attacked by enemies. If you touch the bottom you exit the dungeon.

I know it's useless but it's still cool.

You're were about where I am, cheater. It's pretty tough. I have yet to try it a second time, but might tonight. I have only entered that dungeon once... hopefully I won't have to do it 25 times! I am at level 15 or 16 and I still can't beat the bear/cat thing. I think I might need to be on level 25 or so.

I did go for it about 25 times but a lot of those times I didn't even make it to the boss and got defeated because I had to fight 3 enemies at once who all had a higher speed. I was only level 13 though.

When I originally was at battling the boss I thought I needed lots of Green Tea, but I acctually need lots of the Antidote. Buy ten Antidoites, a couple peaches, and the rest green tea. Use the antidotes for healing the poison, and use the Light Heal to gain back your health. The battle will go on forever but you will finally beat him.

I remember when I did finally beat him I was at about 45 health and was out of Green Tea and Light Heal's. Two turns away from losing.

LMK if you spawn inside a wall when entering that dungeon. Hopefully I'm not the only one!

I just tried him at level 17 and got whooped, mainly because of the poison cloud. It take a looooong time to recover from that because one turn you cure the poison. And the next 4 or 5 turns you heal yourself. Then you get one shot in and he uses poison cloud again. It's stupid design, but I'll get past it.

I would just keep healing and healing. I'd heal pretty well everytime I had more then 40 health missing.
