The GBA may be more powerful than the SNES hardware-wise, but it lacks behind it in sound production due to it being not only held back by the OG Game Boy's miserable sound hardware, but because the GBA featured centralized hardware that it shared with all components of the system (video, audio etc.) Kind of like the N64 before it.

And no, I don't think you can play GBC-only games on the SGB. The GBC had slightly enhanced hardware over the original Game Boy, such as a faster processor. I do believe that a second SGB that allowed you to play GBC games on the SNES was released in Japan.

The GBC has a processor that is essentially the same as the original GB processor, except it has two speeds, the normal GB speed and a double speed for GBC-only games. Also, the GBC has a pretty big color pallette (though you couldn't tell by looking at most of the games). The Super Game Boy can access the SNES color pallette (as seen in Space Invaders), but it's not the same as the GBC pallette.

The Super Game Boy 2 does not play clear-cart GBC games. It just adds a link port and a few extra borders. It was actually sold in the US as well, albeit on a very limited basis. There was a GBC player for N64, called Wide Boy 64, but it was only given to developers and the press.

Gameboy color games will NOT work in a SGB as GBC games in full color. No way, no how. I think 17Days is correct. Its working as an original GB game, then getting some color added to it. Put in a "for Gameboy color only" game like Mario Tennis or Super Mario Bros DX and see what happens.

As for the GBA as everyone said the GBA was 32-bit and much faster than the SNES processor so that's completely out of the question. It really is like putting a 32X game in a MD. Two completely different sets of hardware with different language and everything else that goes along with it.

That's why you and me are here in this thread to see what happens. Also, It sucks to hear your power switch to your record player broke.
