I love SMS games (More than MD infact).

You have pointed out some great games. Action Fighter doesnt usually get much love but I think it's a great game, you really have to get in the zone.. a moment of destraction and it's game over.

I never really liked Adams Family, perhaps I need to try that one again.

I prefer Wonder Boy III The Dragons Trap over Wonder Boy in Monster Land.

    Other games I love that are not on your list;

    Castle of Illusion
    Land of Illusion
    Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
    Zillion
    Putt and Putter
Moonwalker (somtimes I dislike it though)
    Sonic 1, 2 and Chaos
and Dynamite Headdy is growing on me..

Impossible mission is one of my all time favorite games and the Master System port is awesome!

I really, really... really! love the Master System

Still need 20 games or so before I have a complete EU collection, but I'll get there eventually... I hope.

Power Strike 2 is a fantastic game! It almost looks 16-bit

At the moment I'm playing a lot of My Hero. I must be a masochist or something, caus the game just keeps kicking my ass. That game is haaaard!

I've got two copies, but I have never really set the time aside to play it. Does that make me a bad person?

Among my faves (most of them you guys already mentioned):

    Asterix
    Power Strike 2
Wonder Boy III: The Dragons Trap
    Land of Illusion
    Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Sonic the Hedgehog (It's very possible that it's better than the MD original)
    Vampire / Master of Darkness
    Phantasy Star
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Absolutely. It seems like the developers really used the additional time to tweak the game near perfection. The result really was better than the MD original.

As for good SMS games Shinobi comes to mind too. Not as great as the MD-sequels, but still really good.

I also like Ninja Gaiden very much, but it has insane difficulty.

And nobody mentioned Micro Machines yet, it was a really good port of the MD version.

    I loooove Master System!
Home Alone is totally different to the Megadrive game, and Gamegear one too I think. Its a quite nice game if I remember rightly - I should play it again.

As for programming, I would say SMS is harder than Megadrive, simply because its a much more restricted system. The CPU is much slower, theres less colours avaliable, the number and size of sprites allowed is lower, and even the fact that the pad has only two buttons can be a major limitation depending on the game.

Well it's funny you should say that..
Here are some reviews I did of very recent SMS games (released along side older classics on the 2006 MS3 120 Super Jogos)

    After that there has been the 2007 SMSIII 131 Super Jogos;

I am part way through reveiwing the modern exclusives on this one as they are all different from the 120 model - not as good mainly, at least in the graphics department.. i need more play time.

Then, actually today, I received the new 2008 model SMSIII 131...

    Shiny..

    Very shiney..

Not even plugged this one in yet but i think from looking onthe back of the box it has yet more new games..

This new Master System looks so sexy!

How much did you have to pay for it? Any chance you will get the new Mega Drive as well, the one with the EA-games?

I don't understand why the "new" Master System with all of the super jogos come with a 6-button pad. I guess those damn jogos really are super!

Anyway the "Master System 3" (which is not designed or built by Sega) looks like a friggin' hot plate. Any "exclusive" game that's built-in cannot be considered a real SMS game since it can't be played on a real SMS.

It was around £80 inc post to England. I don't want the new MD, I don't really collect MD items although I do have a passing interest.
