Prior to the 32-Bit era and the rise of gaming magazines console launches weren't well documented or even happened on one day (test market launch followed by national launch) so I figure even personnel at Sega during the late '90's/early '00's didn't know or remember what the launch dates of the Genesis & Sega CD were. As for the Sega Saturn........that's just something SoA wants to forget about entirely.
You mostly only hear of celebrations of anniversaries of console launches on gaming websites and message boards such as this one. The only company I've seen that gives some love to it's old systems is Nintendo with their whole "NES 20th Anniversary" releases for GBA and whatnot.
