I guess that depends on what you're comparing. Sega GT is a solid racing title for the DC, but it looks pretty plain compared to 2001's Gran Turismo 3.

A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Ok, You may have a point there but check out this video.

Sega GT may not have held up to Gran Turismo 3 but lets not rule out that the power was still there.

Sega GT was nothing fancy graphically, even compared to other Dreamcast racers. Not the best comparison. Test Drive Le Mans, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2, Metropolis Street Racer, and Daytona USA 2001 all looked better.

I really don't think the last 10 years have shown nearly the leaps and bounds in graphics that the previous 10 years had.

Genesis-Saturn-Dreamcast = Huge leaps in graphics.

Dreamcast-PS2/Xbox/GCube-Xbox Circle/PSTrizzle/Wii = Slight polishing and several improvements. The GREATEST leap AFAIC has been in sound quality with the PS3. I absolutely love the way some blue-ray games sound with their clear, defined and very deep sound effects. I'm a huge audiophile...though I can't afford anything...I love good sound.

    I highly recommend the following:

Armada: It's like Asteroids, Sinistar and Star Control all wrapped in one unique RPG shooter.
It's bumper cars in space. Highly repetitive and rather boring gameplay. Armada was supposed to be an on-line game but had that aspect canned due to Sega's delays in getting the network ready. I wouldn't recommend it myself as anything other than a simplistic "party" game.

Super Magnetic Neo: A unique platform that uses the power of magnetism to advance you character through the levels.
Could have been great, but the camera kills the game. Honestly, I want to say it begins with the third level where you are made to run into the camera to dodge pits and such that you just don't see until it's too late. The side scrolling 2-D parts are terrific, but the game is mostly frustrating and kills what would have otherwise been a novel concept. It does look nice for what it is though.

    D2: Resident Evil style thriller
It's a dull, stupid game, though hunting for meat is fun. I'm of the opinion though that Warp has never made a decent game, the closest being Enemy Zero. I suppose D2 will appeal to people looking for a Dreamcast Resident Evil beyond Code Veronica, but it remains a so-so game with a brain dead story.

All this said, they are still decent games. The Dreamcast has very few truly terrible games. Even something like Seventh Cross Evolution can be decent in the right context, though I suspect that'd be harder now due to how ugly it must look to people now (it was ugly at release ).

Other than that, I think my options are limited. But Edge, Jesus, if you can think of some good action, platform, or strategy games that I should try, feel free to shout them out.
Skimming through the topic trying to ignore all the derails, so I apologize if some of this was covered.

Sega Marine Fishing is fantastic. Yes, definitely getting the fishing controller is worth it. I'd also recommend Reel Wild Fishing, which is a more realistic fishing sim. Reel Wild uses some great looking looped FMV for its environments and offers a large variety of fish to catch. It might (pretty much will) be boring for you though if you're looking for a more arcade-y game. Sega's Bass Fishing titles are great, too, but Marine Fishing is the best by far.

The only real strategy game I can think of for the system worth getting is Conflict Zone. While you might be interested in games such as MDK2, Fur Fighters, and other great action/platform titles, those have since been released for PS2 with enhancements, so those will probably be the ideal version unless you want the improvements VGA support brings.

That's exactly what I'm hoping to get - an arcade-style fishing game. I'm not much of an angler, so I'll need something with a bit more . . . "hook."

    Hah!

Sounds like Crash Bandicoot then, I'm definately going to try this game out myself now I think.

MDK is inferior on PS2 in multiple areas, it's only "enhancement" is an easy mode, all the effects in MDK2 were handled by the Dreamcast Power VR chip and when they directly ported the game to PS2 they didn't re-write the coding to add the old effects back in which is why the game is missing the real time shadowing and reflective surfaces, it's also in a lower overall resolution on PS2

Fur fighters had it's graphics re-done for the PS2 port so it's version is all cell-shaded, I'll admit that I like Cell Shading and would probably have preffered owning that version if it wasn't for the fact that I like to buy the originals, the PS2 version also replaced the DC's humorous grunts with full proper voice acting.

I'm sure I read somewhere on IGN that they score a game based on what's available on that particular console and not others, so if one platformer raises the bar on the DC then all subsequent DC platformers are criticised more, they also said that the Dreamcast had the most consistantly high quality game library they had experienced, so you may find that an 8/10 IGN score on Dreamcast is the equivalent of a 9/10 scoring game for Gamecube.

I messed around with Blue Stinger last weekend. The game was okay, but the graphics looked pretty blocky and the story started out slow.

    3DO:

    Worst controller ever!

    FMV Machine = POS Machine

ONE CONTROLLER PORT?! REALLY?! THANKS TRIP!

I didn't get as much money for it as I wanted when I sold the POS!

So lets put THREE buttons on the face instead of four. Hey the Super Nintendo has 4 face buttons, but 3DO just decided they needed one less. Especially considering ALL of their competition was putting MORE buttons on their controllers.

Excellent. Thanks Trip Hawkens. God will not forget what you unleashed upon the world in 1993. Unfortunately for you, God is the only one.

This game hasn't aged well at all but it is definitely something special in my opinion. Check it out. I finally found the review from Happy Console gamer

You're on a Genesis site and you're criticising the 3DO's Genesis clone pad? which in fact actually had 2 side buttons extra.

3DO controllers chained off each other, one controller port equaled 6 controllers
