Default Modding GGs is fun :)

    http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/4/...5/FULVIOGG.JPG

RGB mod + AV out (and SCART cable that's not pictured), controller port, LED change, capacitor replacement, backlight on/off switch.

That particular GG got shipped back to its owner so I cannot take any pics of that one while it runs (I can use mine, but no controlelrp ort demonstration then). More pics after a few days when I get my cam.

If anyone wants something like it, I'm all ears

I can't really think why you would bother. I just change the caps on them to restore the picture and sound.

Fantastic work, I should really consider sending you my GG.

It does output some static noise when powered on. - What can be done to improve its sound ? Could you record a short sound sample from Streets of Rage with your GG ?

Could the backlit switch be done to Nomad too ? And would it make sense so that it improves the picture (on both GG and Nomad) ? Is the result comparable to GBA ?

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

It took a fair share of time, but its not even quarter as bad as putting a cartslot on wires

You name any, I can try figuring them out... the backlight switch for example was not my idea... its there to make screen black when you play and watch things on TV.

Some people like to have more functionality, that person wanted his GG to be used like a stationary game console besides hand held operation.

I have no flashcart for GG and SMS, and I only have 1 GG cart and no Master Gear adaptor. There is no static in the sound of that GG, nor my own... at least nothing like Nomads do... and there's no real fix for it, the sound comes from the inverter for backlight tube, and without extensive shielding work, nothing can be done.

The backlight switch turns backlight off, and in that state you won't see ANYTHING. Reason for it is mentioned few lines above.

Awesome Got a schematic for those mods? I have a second GG that I wouldn't mind mod'ing myself.

The RGB mod is based on work by Eviltim/Viletim (my implementation is slightly more efficient but has poorer video amps), switch is no brainer, and controller port is just the matter of multimeter handling

For my version you need to wait for the schematic...

Is that controller port just a duplicate of the integrated controls? If so, I'd LOVE to find out how to add a controller port to a Game Gear. I was looking to make a dual Sega Master System/Game Gear console(not portable), but what I couldn't figure out was how to wire up a controller port(I don't own a Game Gear, but I'd get one ASAP should I get instructions on how to add a controller port). You can use Sega Master System controllers through that port, right?

the controller port is wired like a MD or SMS one (and 2600 and Amiga), so you could use anything compatible with it.
