i believe 8-bit SOR was intended first for the game gear, and ported to the master system from there, single player intact

After this conversation, I decided that I had to play TMNT, so I bought it from Circuit City.
And it IS quite good. I would go so far as to say that it may very well be one of the best brawler games I've ever played. Now, if it were only based on the traditional TMNT cartoons/comics rather than the movie, I would rank it possibly as THE best.
Oh, and I thought of you last weekend, ceibant. I saw a loose Hyperstone Heist cartridge for $2. I wish I'd picked it up!
i think super double dragon for the snes was the best dragon
DD2 for the NES, despite being a departure from the coin-op (which was for the most part a palette/sprite swap of DD1) was cool. The Japan-only PC Engine version, which was inspired by the NES version, is even better. The Genesis version, which was an arcade port and not an original game.......well most of us should know how that one turned out.
DD3, in the arcade, Genesis and Game Boy, SUCKED. The NES version (a departure from the arcade like DD2) was TOO DAMN HARD, or at least the U.S version was. You only got one life and no continues, and the A.I was cheap. In the short time that I had it I don't think I ever got past the first level, and this is a seasoned beat-em-up vet you're talking to. Other than that it was similar to NES DD2, except with more moves and more characters to play with. It's better than the coin-op/Genesis/GB versions.
I just watched the review on Classic Game Room about this game and they ripped it apart. I still think it looks better than the NES version its just the dam fighting system that drives me nuts.
Also the guy actually mentioned this forum. I wonder if he is a regular.
