Is it common for the controller ports on (any version) of the SNES to crap out after a while, or am I just "lucky"?

its probably reacting only a tad slower than a normal SNES controller![]()
I checked and double checked the ribbon on two consoles. No problems there, The controllers seem fine, too. One system, the older lego brick SNES simply won't take any controller at all. My newer, smaller SNES is giving me shit. The controllers work for a while, then they arbitrarily pause, or just stop working altogether. It makes no sense that I'm getting issues out of four controllers.
I wonder if theres a fuse similiar to the original PSX's controller ports wiring that are on the board that need to be jumped
