Default Blue Stinger...The game that made Capcom nervous

Ok, I know. Blue Stinger really didn't scare Capcom too much but I was just watching the Happy Console Gamers review on YouTube and they brought up some really good points. The games (Blue Stinger) backround was not prerendered like the previous Resident Evil titles. Blue Stingers backrounds were completely 3D rendered. It enjoyed a over the top soundtrack. It had a plethora of weapons ranging from steel baseball bats to lazer rifles (all of which could be bought in vending machines). Now for anyone who has ever played it the in game animation of the characters looks horrendous but surprisingly has some kind of charm to it. So, was Capcom shaking in their boots over the release of this title? I don't think so. RE:Code Veronica was ready and willing to take the market by storm which it did but Blue Stinger will always be remembered as the B-Rated Survival Horror that surpassed Resident Evil at least for a short while.

Yuck bad times for a new DC owner

I remember that was the first game I rented for my brand-new Dreamcast just after it was released....I don't think I was still so optimistic about Dreamcast after playing that. Luckily, RE: Code Veronica gave me a real survival horror game, restored my faith in the DC, and made me forget about Blue Stinger.

The horribly-written concluding sentence (so-called) of the Wikipedia entry:
"For example, there are absolutely no attempt at atmospherics in the game: the soundtrack is a triumphant and often overly-climactic action score that accompanies every area and the enemies, despite being gruesome and partly amputatable, sprinkle the player with gold coins once killed."

I really liked the RE games so I went out on a limb and bought blue stinger. It was pretty cool, I don't have too many bad things to say other than the character design and animation. The Dreamcast could have handled a lot more but I think the game designers were still thinking with 32 bit minds. I am surprised though that it sold so well because they ripped it apart in one review after another.
