My big goal is to start writing for a bunch of agaming websites and gain enough reputation to work at 1up. If this means that 1up will become a shitty office job that barely focuses on games or news, I'LL BE FREAKISHLY PISSED.

EDIT : SO PISSED, IT'LL BE UNMEASUREABLE

I was only an avid EGM reader & subscriber during the Sendai Publishing years. I still read EGM some years into the Ziff Davis era, but my interest in the magazined waned as the internet became widespread and a better source for gaming information.

I have to give EGM credit though, it helped me choose to get the Sega Genesis over the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989-1990.

By the time Ed Semrad left in the late 90s, I wasn't reading EGM regularly anymore.

Just read some blogs at 1up.
    - The 1up show is cancelled
    - GFW podcast = GONE
    - Certain members of the retronauts podcast are leaving, notably Shane Bettenhausen
    - Broken Pixels is cancelled

There is officially no reason for happiness.

I remember running home to download 1up podcasts every friday since around late 2006. I also wonder what the hell will happen to me because, as I said before, I'd like to work at 1up.

He is the one 4-leaf-clover, out of the whole dead garden of 1up.

I bought a gamepro the other day because Street Fighter 4 was on the cover only to find that they got rid of the scoring system with the cartoon dude giving the reactions and replaced it with a boring 1-5 system. I also got less then a paragraph into the SF 4 article before reading that the author didn't like Third Strike because Ken wasn't in it. Needless to say I was horrified.

Sucks about EGM though, they've had highs and lows but they've always been one of my favorites.

If I were to ever have my way with Chun-Li, it'd be in the form of what E. Honda is doing in your avatar.

UPDATE: The very last issue of EGM (#237, February 2009) will not be in print, but rather in digital form, and will be released soon. The last cover art you ask? It's the one most befitting the magazine that indirectly gave birth to Akuma and helped fan the flames of this series' early '90's phenomenon.........STREET FIGHTER.:

How touching. From "Mega Man 2" to "Street Fighter IV". Man, I was worried that it was all going to end with Hugh Jackson's mug.

Here's Mielke's comments about the issue.

I know it will live on in everyone's memories as the best gaming magazine of the last twenty years, nearly as old as this favorite hobby of ours, but as of now it is no longer in publication or circulation. That said --and to clarify on what I stated in my previous blog-- the final, secret, unpublished issue of EGM will show up here on 1UP shortly in the near future. You will be able to read every hi-res page, ads and all (last time I checked at least) on 1UP, to see the beautiful job that crew did, even with the guillotine hanging over our heads every minute of the day. I'm only posting the cover to it for now, but as you can tell, it's quite an eye-catching, dynamic cover. I hope you enjoy the full, final issue. Now that i got that out of the way, let's get on with the pics.
