    Smile Ecco Jr.

One of Sega's most enduring franchises since the Genesis era has been Ecco the Dolphin. The famous cetacean has appeared on almost all its consoles, and he manages to turn up where you'd least expect him. Case in point: Ecco Jr., a game in Sega's short-lived Sega Club line that was geared towards the younger set. Adapting a franchise known for its difficulty for children was one heck of a challenge, and we have a full review of the finished product. Enjoy!

I think the only good point about this game is the fact you can play as an Orca. Other than that, as the review states, for adults it is repetitive tosh!

i dont like any game with the name ecco in it,i dont like any of them i find them boring, just like the dreamcast one swimming around with no cleu and no mood to finish the game, you have youre 3 standard thing's speeding swimming and talking and the background are well drwn and fitting the mood(what mood) and the music is relaxing,so relaxed it puts you to sleep, everything is great about those games except trying to finish those games, they will put you to sleep no constant action just dolphins crap in the seas.

Ary, while I agree with you on the Dreamcast Ecco, you are speaking utter tosh claiming it is the same as Ecco 1 & 2, which are two of the greatest games on the Mega Drive.

I don't know how old I was when I got this game but I thought it was way to easy and it just wasn't meant for children my age.

Compared to the first two games it's more relaxing to play. The last level in the first Ecco game is just torture and this is coming for someone who loves most of the Ghost and Goblins games.

It's so worth it, though. Ecco the Dolphin probably has my favorite ending of all time.

Anyway, I like Ecco Jr. for what it is. The graphics are definitely downgraded, and there's absolutely no challenge, but it's fun to just swim around and some of the themes are actually quite nice. It's a good deal more complex than most Sega Club titles. It was certainly worth the 3 or so dollars I spent on it.

I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

I wonder why they didn't release this game in Europe, and why the graphics appear to look nowhere near as good as in both Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.
