Blinky What Other Game Compilations Would You Like to See?

Thinking about how Jaleco went under, I was pondering the game collections I'd like to see, now that so many of these older companies are disappearing. Capcom, Midway, and Taito's arcade collections rock, but I was really disappointed with SNK's (Neo Geo only). There are a lot of companies out there with catalogues that are worth collecting in one set. Here are a few I'd like to see:

    Data East

This company went bankrupt some years ago, and it's library is now owned by G-Mode, a mobile game company. G-Mode should put out a collection and make some coin off these games! A few games I'd like to see it include are:

    Act Fancer

    Bad Dudes

    Heavy Barrel

    Break Through

    Midnight Resistance

Here's the full Data East catalog, as well as an article I did on some Data East games that never got a stateside console release.

What companies would you like to see release a hits compilation?

I know they already did for the PSP but I think EA should release their classics from the 16-bit days on one of the current gen consoles. I'd also like Sega to put out a collection of games that aren't Mega Drive/Genesis for once - like how about a Master System, Saturn or DC collection. Or a GG collection for the DS? (That'd be awesome - imagine GG Shinobi on the DS )

Have Konami ever released a compilation of old games?

As far as more obscure companies go, how about a Tecnosoft compilation? Granted it'd be practically Thunder Force 1-6 and Hyper Duel, but what more do you need?

    Data East: great call.

Midnight Resistance and Heavy Barrel were awesome in the arcade, but has anyone ever played them emulated with a control scheme that came anywhere near the ease of control of the arcade joystick that had the rotating top so you could move and fire in different directions all on one stick? I couldn't stand the Genesis' Midnight Resistance control scheme that used a button to rotate your fire: too slow, too awkward--don't remember if the "lock your direction of fire" option was that much better....

Yeah they could actually do Midnight Resistance justice now with the dual analog controllers. The MD version was a pain for sure - but it was still fun I guess.
On the subject of Data East - it's just got me thinking about Crude Buster - might play that later...

Is G-Mode bad enough to release "Bad Dudes"?

Data-East games look really terrible, but amusing. Bad Dudes and Jinborov Karnovski are like the best characters ever. I think they made Joe and Mac, which is a pretty good game (the first one at least, MD one and SNES sequel sucks). Not sure I would pay much for a collection like this, though. Would rather seem some new games in the franchises that are actually good.

The only collections I have are SEGA ones and a Capcom one (Megaman X... terrible collection). However, I do like Capcom's old stuff and would be fine with a new one; perhaps they could combine their two volumes for a 360/PS3 release? Adding the really good Megaman games would be nice too (MM1-3, MMX1).

I never tried Midway, Taito, or SNK; so I guess I would like to see those too. What I did not like was Namco's recent one, it included their XBLA stuff that I already have a bunch of titles of; makes it seem too redundant (not as bad with SEGA, since it is a lot of games and the ones they released were only cheap anyway).

What I'd like to see is a compilation of Sega's Model 1, Model 2 and Model 3 arcade games, and another Midway Arcade Treasures with the REAL arcade version of San Francisco Rush 2049 and San Francisco Rush The Rock(both were included in Midway Arcade Treasures 3, but San Francisco Rush 2049 is just a rehash of the Dreamcast version, and San Francisco Rush The Rock was completely ruined. I want the original arcade versions of those 2 games, damn it!)

I found Midnight Resistance on the Genesis very easy to control with a control pad. Just press the direction you want to shoot and fire. The locking button helps. Also, the music in the Genesis version destroys the arcade version. I'd say the game is better on the Genesis than it is in the arcade, so the arcade version is useless.
