    Default New Play Control! Series

So I was browsing through IGN's Wii release dates this morning, wondering if there would be any games worth playing in the next couple of weeks. It seemed like House of the Dead: Overkill was the only standout for a few months (such is the price to pay for owning a Wii) until I saw both Mario Tennis and Pikmin being released under the New Play Control! banner.

Is there anyone else out there as excited about these releases as I am? Of the titles announced thus far, I only own two: Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, so these games will be all new to me. I don't think I would've been sold on the idea had it not been for the fantastic port of Resident Evil 4 to the Wii. I understand that the Wii-mote and nunchuck combo doesn't work with every genre (sports games being the best example), but for some genres is just makes sense. I can't wait to experience the first two Metroids with pointer control, and the same goes for the Pikmin series.

    !

I had no idea that the Metroid's were getting the Wii treatment as well! I'll be buying Metroid Prime as soon as it becomes available!

I was also pretty stoked about Pikmin, as that's a series that I know will benefit from the Wii's motion control.

Chibi Robo? Never played it on the GameCube. Might give it a shot.

I know this is a cheap money-making tactic by Nintendo, but some of these games stand to be improved by the transition, making them worth a second purchase.

Edit: I only hope that they plan for Metroid Prime to control like Prime 3. It'd be lame to keep the original control scheme, only assign the functionality of the LONE control stick to the Wii remote.

Crap, they better not do that . . .

I think it will be awful for Jungle Beat, and I can't imagine how Chibi-Robo would benefit at all. But I am excited for Metroid Prime and Pikmin.

Nintendo has an opportunity to make those games better, and thus worth buying a second time. Let's home they don't squander it as they did Animal Crossing.

Again, never played Chibi Robo . . . but is it possible they would turn it into a "point and click" game? I think Capcom did that with Resident Evil Zero, didn't they?

It's painfully obvious that Nintendo's just trying to make a quick buck here (just like charging $5 for Super Mario Bros!), but as long as the games benefit from the new controls, I'm all for it. Especially since quality Wii titles are so few and far between.

I wonder if this means they're also considering bringing some of their GBA games over to the DS.

A hands-on preview of Pikmin implies that the motion controls actually compliment the gameplay and ultimately make it a better version.

I'll definitely be buying this when it comes out (especially since it will probably be available at a discounted price ala RE4).

Can't wait to see if they improve Metroid Prime. I've been tempted lately to throw this game in and play through it again, but I think i'll just wait until I get my hands on the Wii-make.
