    Default The Inevitable DSi Thread

So is anyone else excited about this thing? I can't say I'm exactly foaming at the mouth to get it, mainly because the extra features don't seem worth the extra $50-$60 (or however much more it's going to to cost over the price of the DS Lite).

Now, if Nintendo adds a "Virtual Handheld" to it, offering GB, GBC, NGPC, Lynx, Game Gear, and possibly even Wonderswan titles for download, I'll be all over it.

Are you going to buy it?

I'll probably end up buying it eventually, but I'm not too thrilled about the system at the moment. You get a shitty camera and an SD card slot. Wooo.... The idea of a virtual console for the DS is fantastic, but right now only DSware games (original games) are coming out. Which is good, but I'd also like some GB classics thrown in.

I think my biggest issue with the handheld is the lack of GBA slot. It just seems so backwards of Nintendo to neglect this. Ultimately, though, I can always buy a GB SP to fulfill all my GBA needs.

The lack of backwards-compatibility isn't too much of an issue for me. I still have a great GBA SP to play my GB, GBC, and GBA games. I don't think I've ever used the GBA slot on my DS . . . which I'll be keeping whether I get the DSi or not, leaving me with two other systems that play GBA games.

I like the *slightly* bigger screen, but I think I'm going to need a few more incentives before I rush out to get it. Especially since this will be the second update the DS has gone through, and the actual next-gen handheld will be out in a few years, anyway.

Not too thrilled about it. would rather have compatibility w/ GBA games than all that crap, but if they add a download service for older handheld games it would be good.

I really like the GBA, so the DSi doesn't appeal to me. Additionally, I have yet to hear about any downloadable stuff that would be worth getting.

I'd much rather get myself a DS lite.

You're missing out! No matter a person's preference, both handhelds have some truly awesome software. Kind of unprecedented in the industry.

Yeah I'm not saying they are bad at all, I actually like both in certain respects and there is definitely some good games out there. I just know how Nintendo is with their handhelds in terms of releasing model after model, and I would rather wait and see with them. I might decide on one farther down the road and when I can buy the stuff cheaper online. The thing about the new DS is I don't really care for the camera feature, I would rather just have a nice camera as well as a nice hangheld. I also don't like how they lost the GBA compatibility.

No GBA compatibility=Not worth buying the DSi.

Honestly, even if it did have a GBA slot there would be no benefit in me buying it, I only use my DS for the usage of the flash cart, to use homebrew. Removing flash cart compatibility is not a plus in my book. (Yes, I know there are DSi flash carts, but I'd rather not spend $70 on something I shouldn't need to get.)
