Kind of, thats the way it's set up, a westminister style parliament democracy.

Acting head of state is the Governor General. Appointed by Canadians...Not the queen.
If the Governor General drops the ban hammers on parliament, it's done, if the ministers bitch and moan enough to incite a collapse of government or an insurrection, they can request the Queen of the Canadian Monarch Elizabeth II to step in and straighten it out.

TheEdge seems to think that the Queen of England is our head of state in ruling manner, whereas in reality, she's symbolically reigning and given royal prerogative in case of a constitutional crisis.
He also seems to think that she "Froze our government, exposing our theoretical lack of any rights" which is wrong.

In reality, It didn't get that far.

If the Governor General had of said "No" and allowed the opposition coalition to usurp power so shortly after an election. Lead at the time by the worst fucktard in liberal party history by the way, then there would have been a crisis, Harper would have pleaded his case to the Crown, asking for a royal prerogative veto injunction, since it would be his only remaining option because of his elected minority government.

He keeps referencing what the fools in the video are rambling through, he said "parliament is ceremonial" in nature, which would mislead one to assume that "royal prerogative" isn't ceremonial and even drives the basic day to day system of governance here.

Reading an article from a news source without grasping the context on a youtube video does not make you or your own views credible, especially when attempting to generalize foreign political systems. It is successful when someone would objectively look at it while minding the intended audience to be absorbing biased, fear based, rhetoric on a regular basis.

It's all spiced up with the dramatic music and quick cuts of talking points, the first of which when taken out of context regarding the time period, clearly is aimed to make it seem like they're saying "Canada has been shut down since october." Ridiculous.

The Canadian constitution itself guarantees that parliament will convene at all levels of government at least once a year. Yes that is a terribly long and unrealistic time frame to think about. However it is a total contradiction to the bullshit put forth by TheFucktard and his "ceremony only" ideology.

I look at his 'bashing' almost as if someone were to claim a boat is totally useless, not because it's buoyant on water, but because it can hold water and thus sink.

The constitution can't be outright nullified so easily as one like T3hFucknuts would have you believe. It's just vague enough to harbor some absurdity to feed the fear mongering trolls
