    heart Snatcher

Long before Hideo Kojima became obsessed with Metal Gear Solid, he crafted one of the most memorable and acclaimed games of the 8 and 16-bit generations. The only problem is that he's never revisited it on any platform and has all but forgotten the series, much to the dismay of fans everywhere. With its gripping plot and well-developed characters, Snatcher is perhaps the best digital comic ever made and reason enough to make you run out and get a Sega CD. The fact that it's the only English console release doesn't any either.

This is my favorite Sega CD game (and second favorite video game). I have two copies (one just in case something bad - like scratches - ever happens to my first copy). The first time I ever played it was an amazing experience right up there with playing Panzer Dragoon Saga (my favorite game). Actually, there were quite a few Sega CD games that amazed me back in the day (Sonic CD, Lunars, Dark Wizard) but especially Snatcher.

Snatcher was amazing! The sad thing about the game is that it's way too short and the battle at the end where those green robot bugs go after you was a real pain in the ass to get through. I had to use the rapid fire function on my controller to beat that part! Next time I buy the original copy, I'll play through it again. There must've been stuff I missed through my first run of the game. I just wish there was a sequel to this great game. I miss the characters! My next digital comic game to conquer: The Space Adventure.

Use the Justifier on the last battle, it's more fun and much more satisfying!

Looking back on all the Sega CD games I've played, or even games on other systems, it appears Snatcher has not lost its touch with me either. It's still my overall favorite Sega CD game, being I own around 45 of them, and it's also one of the ten best gaming experiences I've ever had more than likely.

I love the dialogue and presentation, along with the score which touches on various moods nicely.

I tell you, that Sega CD needs some love man, good times!

Also, regarding The Space Adventure, it's an excellent title if you like adventure games in the vein of Snatcher. Cobra is such an appealing character, and the universe within that game is full of surprises and more witty dialogue here and there.

And as for the statement about Panzer Dragoon Saga above, which is actually my third all-time favorite game, I'd have to agree that's another classic on the just-as-misunderstood Sega Saturn system. I've been buying up some Saturn games as of late, and I've even taken the time to appreciate import titles like Radiant Silvergun and the sequel made on the Saturn for Keio Flying Squadron (which was originally a Sega CD title).

I should also post a Top 10 regarding my favorite Sega CD games at some point, just because it would be fun to do.

Snatcher never really appealed to as much. Probably because I played Rise of the Dragon before I ever got to try Snatcher.

I was terribly disappointed with the voice work, but the Sega-CD and PC Engine versions are great companion pieces. I don't think that the characters of Snatcher or Blade Runner are super developed nor that the story is super deep, but both are all-time favorites of mine because of the overall presentation, style and aesthetics. Snatcher is more cliched, cheesy and straight up unoriginal than Blade Runner, but it's all in a good way.

Same with Space Adventure Cobra, but I think that its acting and dialogue hit the perfect balance for cool cheeze (Army of Darkness) while Snatcher's is more in "They Live" territory.

In my opinion snatcher (and likely policenauts which Ive yet to try) are superior to the metal gear series. Snatcher is the killer app for the sega cd in my view. And one of my better gaming experiences for sure-its well worth the cash. I can't wait to try policenauts now that a translation is coming

Policenauts is okay, but if it didn't play off of Snatcher and if you'd never played Snatcher before, it would lose much of its appeal. If Snatcher is Blade Runner with some Terminator mixed in, Policenauts is Lethal Weapon mixed with Forever Young.

I played this game for the first time a few weeks ago, it's great but there are times were the game play feels like it hasn't aged well. You have to investigate objects several times, even if you've check something out and MG tells you there's nothing interesting, you'll still have to check it a few more times in order for something new to appear in the menu, same goes for questioning people.

It's a shame the game is expensive.

I never found that to be a problem, though that might be because I'm very thurough by nature. I always want to see if there is more.

I don't remember too many specifics, but Snatcher was one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had in gaming.
I purchased it on release day after being hyped by Gamefan's perfect "10" ratings. I was completely dismayed to find out it wasn't even a typical game, but rather a digital comic. Then there are issues like those you mentioned, and also the cliche Bladerunner/Terminator sci-fi storyline. I played through to the end, but never had any interest in playing through again, and eventually traded it in at EB for like $7 store credit.

I strongly feel that Snatcher is one of the most overhyped software releases ever. I won't even call it a game. It is as much a game as Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. Point and click for clues is hardly what I'm looking for in a videogame. I can understand being excited about Snatcher if you're super into the whole Cyberpunk or digital comic thing, but otherwise, Snatcher really doesn't deserve the hype that follows in its wake.

I've avoided this game simply because... we,, I don't like Hideo Kojima. I think he's insane. Metal gear never made any sense, he's had no real problems expressing certain anti-American viewpoints and for some time, seemed pompous and hated western game developers. His opinion has only recently changed, now sucking up to western developers, and I would say it's solely because the Grand Theft Auto series has consistently outsold the Metal Gear Solid series.

I think after GTAIV beat MGS4 around like Mike Tyson punching out Steve Urkel, he's relenting and hoping he can do something to appeal to us after years of regarding the US as an aftermarket. The US has more people and more customers, which Japanese companies are going to have to rely on, after decades of treating the US as secondary. Not gonna release that game here? Fine, we'll buy GTA instead and give our money to someone else! They were pretty arrogant in the start, after the video game crash, but ever since Doom came out and US companies have been viable, Japanese developers have been forced to compete for our dollars, but very slow to admit it.

Playing through this game right now, and I must say it is extremely tense and creepy! Snatcher has me on the edge of my seat anytime I'm in an area that's not the HQ pretty much. The music is foreboding, everything is dark and spooky, the mood is set really well.

There are a couple of times where the constant searching multiple times is a chore, but other than the game so far is really good. I'm a good part through Act 2 and even though it isn't a "Game" persay, I can't stop playing it because I want to know what happens next in the story.

Reminds me a lot of Capcom's later Phoenix Wright games. Same kind of gameplay, lots of investigation, and more like a digital book/comic. It's hard to put the game down when you want to find out what happens next so badly!
