Yes it did. You have to rotate the d-pad either clockwise or counter-clockwise during the continue countdown.

Thanks for the link! The music is a bit too hyper for that game, but still very interesting (like someone took the original music into Fruityloops and laid down a beat track). And it is cool seeing the C64 do parallax like that!

Was that responsible for the awesome music in The Last Ninja?

To say a system sux (sic) is harsh. Maybe that stems from my love of books, where there are no truly BAD books, just poorly written, conceived, or perceived ones. If something is bad, that means it was a true waste of time, with nothing positive coming out of it.

But based on people's opinions on the PC-Engine, as mentioned int his thread, it looks like it was the source of enjoyment for quite a few people. It might not have sold well, but does that make the system bad, or the marketing bad? I stick with the latter, as proper advertising could propelled the system into Hall of Fame status. And if millions of PC-Engines sold around the world, would it still "sux?" Obviously not. Blame the marketing on it.

Same goes with other systems. The 32X gets ripped to shreds, with some reasons being very valid. But once again, the marketing and lack of attention from Sega made the 32X bad: Knuckles Chaotix and Virtua Racing are prime examples of what could be done on that system. With power like that waiting to be harnessed in the mid-90s, you can't say the 32X sucked.

I could go on and on, citing the 3DO and Phillis CD-I (disasters yes, but not because of the system itself). Even if they were failures, they taught other companies a valuable lesson on what to avoid down the road. That learning experience cant' be all that bad.

For any video game system, there are a handful of great games to be played, and to say that "PC Engine sux" is dismissing these gems like they are nothing.

Blanket statements like these are the worst, for they ignore the basic principle of video gaming: having fun. And if you take some time, do some snooping around at video game stores or on the internet, do your research, you can sit down on the couch and have a blast.

No matter what shape controller you use.

Well... to an extent, a good melody will always be a good melody irrespective of which sound chip it uses, however the SID chip in the C64 gave the programmers many more options on how complex they could make their music, there's a pretty easy comparison anyway, just listen to the NES version of Last Ninja http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D82lb_kOgNY

and then the C64 original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCNMc...eature=related

Thanks for the videos. The C64 does have some nice waveforms and the music had great bass. They won't make me get a C64 emulator, or buy the computer, but it seems like a cool machine.

At least the NES version had actual sound effects (and nicer graphics). If I were to choose, I'd play the NES version.

I don't think it was from a game, but some musician tracking for the SMS. Or maybe it was a clone chip (There are a few system that have like a "90% version of the SMS audio chip"... chip).

Also, don't forget about adjusting that Rayxanber 3 sound effect!
That's right. I'll post some wave/mp3's this weekend for voting/feedback (over at the other forum <_< )
