Dude, Solaris is supposed to be one of the best (or at least most impressive) 2600 games, cool find. (not that it's particularly rare, but I think its up there with Pitfall II in terms of technical quality)

I just got Final Fantacy III (VI) for $2 at goodwill.

Plus Ghosts n' Goblins for NES for $2, and Jurassic Park CIB, Jungle Strike CIB, Ecco, and Sonic 2 (slightly darkened label, non "not for retail") for $1.50 each. I also passed up a scratched up copy of STH (not for resale). And I already had Sonic 2 and Ecco, but they were on sale for 1/2 price (from $3) and my sonic was "not for resale" (albeit with a bright label)

Damn, those US prices are cheap! And I thought I was having a winning streak since I started collecting last September :

    SNES
    3 x NES
    2 x MD1
    MD2
    N64
    Saturn
    Dreamcast
    2 x GBC

I've spent around 130e on those. Some had cables, games and controllers, some had nothing but the machine itself. Seeing as NES with 2 controllers goes for around 40e here, I think things don't look so bad. Then again, it's possible I could've gotten the whole lot from some yard sale for $50 like you guys.

What really bothers me are the game prices here. A loose NES game can be 10e, and the sad thing is that someone is going to buy it anyway. Too bad Sega wasn't as big here, I've only seen one MD game ever in a flea market (Ariel, and yes i bought it) in the past 2 years or so.

I'd immagine there are a lot of good deals on SMS and MD stuff in the Sega strongholds of europe. (don't know much about the distibution other than the UK being particularly biassed and Germany being rather pro Nintendo)
But definitely UK has Master System and Mega Drive stuff all over the place. (Sega CD, 32x, and Saturn may be a different story though, those did worse in EU than in the US as I understand it -and 32x stuff I know is rather pricey -Dreamcast is plentiful as I understand though)

Yeah, I know UK has it good. I've done most of my game shopping from your eBay. Here people seemed to take the Nintendo route or switched to affordable home computers (C64, Amiga) in the late 80's and early 90's so you don't see these old consoles that much. I think the main reason was the game prices. You could just copy a ton of games on a floppy disk, but had to spent months worth of allowance for one game cartridge. I only had 7 games for NES during the whole year I owned that system and didn't buy any of them myself. Also the NES Action Set cost half as much as the cheapest A500 system.

I recently picked up a Genesis Model 2, Sega CD model 2, all power adapters and connections, Tomcat Ally, 2 Dracula Games, Third World War, and a Backup RAM cart for $30 of a guy on craigslist. Everything was in good condition, the only problem was the genesis had a cold joint on the power input, easy fix.

Last week off eBay I got the following for $100 shipped:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Sega Genesis 1 w/ Altered Beast (CIB) This is to replace my non-HD Gen 1
Strategy Guide for Phantasy Star III
    Sword of Vermilion Hint Book
    Phantasy Star II (CIB)
    Phantasy Star III (CIB)
    Phantasy Star IV (CIB)
Crusader of Centy w/ Instruction (I already have an extra one w/ box but missing instructions so this will complete that copy)
    Sword of Vermilion
    Dragon's Fury (CIB)
    Dragon's Revenge (CIB)
    Crue Ball (CIB)
    Virtual Pinball (CIB)

I don't think it was a bad eBay haul for $100 shipped.

Best deal I've ever had was from a garage sale. Panzer Dragoon Saga for $2.00, complete. It's not quite mint, as the case has a slight crack and the booklet has some creasing, but still, pretty ridiculous deal.

Garage sales are gold mines if you have the patience and sticktoitiveness.

Back in mid 05, I got a 32x (boxed) with a Mega Drive II (Unboxed), bundled with all necessary cables and metal clips with a few complete boxed 32x games (Doom, Virtua Racing, Metal Head, Virtua Fighter). Got Knuckles Chaotix later that year. And a few complete Mega Drive games (The Chaos Engine, Stargate, Micro Machines 2, Ecco the dolphin, Back to the future III, Urban Strike, Lethal Enforcers with that blue lightgun, Earnest Evans, Theme Park and Abram's battletank.

All for roughly around £40-£50 odd. Well, Mum got it for me at the time lol. Best deal ever! Can't get that deal today!

EDIT: Oh yeah, Jan 05 I got a Mega Drive 1 with the Mega CD 1 with Sonic CD for £32, Got a bundle of extra Mega CD games separately for a price I can't remember...

I'd have to say the best has been $10 for a Sega CD1 with a Genesis 1 attached. It came with a power brick for the SCD1 and one controller. The SCD1 needed a fuse, but works great with that replaced.
    Ow! My small intestine!
