I got a Sega CDX yesterday in amazing great condition... all the hookups, 2 controllers, 1 arcade controller, 21 genesis games and 6 sega cd games... And all i did was trade my Nintendo DSlite for it... That was a killer deal!
Sounds like a good deal![]()
Another Bargain:
James Pond: Underwater Agent (Factory Sealed) $1.50 at the local thrift store![]()
Hmn... since I posted here last, I purchased a Fairchild Channel F console (google it) with 10 games, MDII console (covered in scum, and undoubtedly filled with it also - haven't looked yet) with Sonic, and one of those Mega Power Joyness systems (with 200-odd NES games) for the cost of shipping - about £15.
I also found a loose Conker's Bad Fur Day in a crap-shop for £1.50 around New Years. It didn't strike me as anything amazing, thus far.
Nice find, that one tends to go for a fair amount on ebay over here. (also it's one of only 2 64MB/512Mbit, the largest N64 titles released, the other being RE2)
Also interesing to note that the Xbox remake which was originally going to be a director's cut version with censorship removed, ended up going the opposite direction to get it down to a Teen rating with even minor profanity censored. (opposed to the M rated N64 version)
It's probably the most adult game Rare has produced.
That games rocks who can forget the Great Mighty Poo. I wish the Xbox version wasn't censored. It controls so much smother.
I thought this maight have been a bit of a deal http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=4648182
Early HD model 1 (possibly TMSS free), with Model 1 CD (possibly fully working), with 2x early (red lettering) controllers and 2 working power suppplies. I received it today, and it looked ok until I pulled out the packing paper stuffing and found that they'd packed it in a plasig bag with the controllers loose and on the bottom, and with the power supplies plugged in!
It may very well have been in good working order (they didn't know how to properly test it, but at least the CD tray worked), but it has certainly been damaged on shipping, one of the AC adaptor tips got wrenched and broken (a result of being plugged in), I can puch it back in and get it to connect (flakily) and I could probably repair it to some degree.
However the biggest problem is the CD, it powers on, but the tray doesn't open, and there is stuff rattling around inside. It would seem it cot beat up durring shipping. (though there are no external signs of ware)
The metal RF sheaild/ground/locking plate was included (the consoles were shipped attached), but the expansion port cover is gone. (though this was expected)
I have yet to open it up, but hopefully it's fixable...
Edit: Took it apart and found out it had Lethal Enforcers in the drive. What was rattling around was parts of one of the screw posts and the screw that goes to the Genesis-to-CD edge connector. (the other post is intact and fine). Also rattling around was the certamic ring for the ribbon cable connecting the main board to the drive. (which had gotten disconnected)
So I put the ring back on, connected the ribbon cable into the drive, and put everything back together and... It works! Loaded the bios, reset opened the tray, I inserted the disc and it read the CD and the game started up (though I only had the hedphones hooked up so I didn't see anything).
However after hitting reset to eject the CD, it didn't work. Turning it off and on aggain, I noticed only the "ready" light would flash when powering up. (just like the way I got it, rather than both lights flashing)
So, I think the cable came disconnected again, I'll have to find out why that's happening.
I managed to patch up the broken power supply tip for the time being. (added a little peice of aluminum foil to get the broken center post to contact on the back end of the tip; the entire tip is broken and can be pulled free from the cable)
BTW this is my first time owning a Genesis (or any Sega console really).
Hopefully I'l be getting a SMS 2 with games+controllers, and a 32x (no cables) from my uncle. (he's not sure if he still has it or not though)

You've revealed the secret site! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
And you bid on that? I was looking at that to try and get it. Hope you're satisfied with your purchase, I was thinking about bidding on that until it got to be too much for my tastes. Glad I didn't bid on it since the Model 1 Sega CD was broken. which is the only thing I needed from it.
And make sure that the reset button isn't broken on your Genesis, I have that problem with mine as well, and mine is also a Hi-Definition with no TMSS.
Yeah, I'm working on it, most of it seems ok, it even booted up and started playing the copy of lethal inforcers it had hidden inside, but it's not working reliably, and it's just a bit wierd...
I haven't tested it on screen yet, but based on the FCC code the Genny is a non TMSS model. That's cool at least.
Too bad they packed it poorly, Im not sure how much that has to do with it, but judging by the description the main ribbon cable (main board to drive) in the CD came disconnected, the ceramic ring came off said cable and was loose (though didn't break), one of the screw posts for the genny-port-to-CD connector was broken and loose inside the CD unit, and the power supplies were left plugged in with one becoming damaged as mentioned. But also, with the controllers on the bottom, they got a little scratched (no big deal), and the power supply tip that broke I think also damaged the Genny's power port a little. (part of the plastic that holds the receptical in place seems to have broken, making it somewhat loose; I kind of fixed it by wedging some folded poster board in place behind it in a nonobtrusive way)
And also the prior owner seems to have been a smoker... (so the stuff needed a bit of cleaning, and smells a bit)
Did you actually bid in that auction?
Did you end up getting one of the other CD's that ended a little later? This one went pretty cheap http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=4665331 (and complete with extension block for Model 1's) or were you looking for a Model 1 CD?

Nope, I decided after your experience with your Sega CD to not bid on that one actually. Also A friend of mine may sell me his Model 1 after he looks up the price, so we'll see how it goes.
Although I did manage to get a NES with NES Advantage MIB and 3 games (Super Mario Bros., TMNT, and Rad Racer) for a very cheap $22 on that site. No cables or cords or other stuff for the NES but I already had all that stuff anyway from my broken NES.
Last summer I bought a Sega CD (Model 2) and Genesis (Model 2) combo set for $38 from Amazon! Yes, the Sega CD works fine! I actually never tried the Model 2 Genny, as it didn't come with the power cord for it. I just hooked up the Sega CD to my old Model 1 Genny from 5th grade.
