Hollywood= the great destroyer of memories

Look at Transformers, Wing Commander, the Grinch, Star Wars episodes I-III, a new G.I. Joe movie, a new Terminator movie that is based in the future like a have been dreaming about since I was 9 yet the story is fucking stupid (anyone looked into this yet? ), the remake of War of the World and numerous other classics. It is all crap. They all have no redeeming quality to them. They just keep pumping it out.

In short I leave you with this little ditty.

Well see, the problem is people are just trying to cash in with video game movies, if a worthwhile director picked it up, it could be fucking awesome. Its just like movie-based video games, they all suck because its just assholes trying to cash in, not make a great game. There are, however, always exceptions, like the GI Joe arcade game or the TMNT arcade games, that prove good games CAN come from a popular license and not totally suck.

Finally someone else hates that terrible Michael Bay rendition of Transformers. I'll admit, I was never a big Transformers fan, but I was at least aware of the show, and Michael Bay just made it fucking stupid on all accounts. Even Terminator 3 was completely unnecessary and lame. If James Cameron isn't at the helm, its going to be crap, plain and simple. War of the Worlds was also full of completely dogshit stupid stuff as well, SOOO many plot holes you could mistake it for swiss cheese. And what about remakes of movies that were GOOD to begin with? Why the fuck did Tim Burton remake Willy Wonka? Willy Wonka is one of the few movies that have aged almost perfectly and then he feels the need to remake it? The new Indiana Jones was pretty inadequate too. God dammit, when will people stop just cashing in and start making something worthwhile? Don't they realize they'll make even MORE if the movie is actually GOOD?

They sucked, but I can at least understand why they made those movies. The Transformers cartoon was insanely popular, so it makes sense that they would turn that into a movie at some point (and 17days, most people seem to think that Michael Bay should have stayed far, far away from that franchise).

But Shadow of the Colossus? Is this game even remotely popular enough for the name alone to be a box-office draw? It's an excuse to draw movie-goers to the theaters to watch 120 minutes of CGI.

And I'm sorry, but the game's developers must have had a say in this. Regardless of how big that check is, this game should never be made into a movie, and if they think they are doing it "for the fans," I think they should probably do a quick poll. This game is a pretty strong argument for the "video game = art" debate, and the fact that they would whore it out to Hollywood is very disheartening. I judge them.

This is the worst idea I've ever heard for an adaptation. And this is taking into consideration the talk of a live-action Pac-Man movie a few years back.

Well, many movies could be "fucking awesome" if a worthwhile director or writer worked on them...but Hollywood is Hollywood.

By this point I'm not angry that a VG movie is going to be made and is going to be a feces sandwich...I expect it to suck because I've never really seen a VG based movie that was mind-blowingly jawusum.

So you're saying the "Total Recall" game is crap? Say it ain't so!

Okay, It's not all fucking bad. If stuff like the first Mortal Kombat movie was entertaining (KEYWORD : I said entertaining not masterpiece.) this'll probably be remotely decent for fans of the game. I've never played Shadow of the collosus, nor do I desire to see the film, but just because we don't want it to be made, doesn't mean it's horrible. Surprises happen, they may be few and far between, but they happen.

"Mortal Kombat" was pretty good, until Jackie Chan showed me how fights in movies should really be shot.

MK's fights are slow and lack energy.

Well you must be talking to different people because every time Transformers gets mentioned I have to leave the room so I don't shoot myself in the head from hearing everybody praise it. This is part of the reason I try to keep conversations with average people to a minimum.

I doubt the developers had much say or any say at all. In spite of what you seem to think, most developers probably don't get shit for rights or royalties once they get their paycheck. They don't get the copyright forever, mr. asshat in a suit does, and mr. asshat in a suit likes printing money any way he can.

I wish someone would retro this movie and do it all with puppets like the awesome ass movies of the 80's. Puppets are just so much better than CG.

I'm pretty sure they only praise that movie to see you get all worked up.

Seriously. I think it's funny that people get so worked up about the "artistic integrity" of an IP that was created, essentially, to sell toys. Although, come to think of it, I guess nearly every cartoon produced in the 80's was made to do the same thing.

I've actually heard a few people complain that "Transformers" had too much product placement.

I was like "It was a cartoon designed to sell toys, not high art".

The only thing that puzzles me is why the fuck GM didn't have the new Camero out when that movie opened. You have a movie that is one big fucking Chevy commercial, and the "hot car" seen in the movie isn't out for rabid fans to buy. No wonder they need restructuring.

They all were made to sell toys back then and now. Still somehow the toy selling cartoon as primitive as it as, is still better then car selling movie.

    Its still the same thing.

The movie just includes bigger, more expensive toys.
