I was just about to leave and pick up a copy of Stratego.

I also ordered a few games, here's the one I'm really digging on (Plus it was on clearance lol)

I remember playing the original version back in the day, but they have an added new rule book to it to enhance the strategy in it.

A game of Axis and Allies only taking up four hours? Man, you must be BLAZING through that game.

Of course, if one player forsakes some classic incidets (like if the player of the Japanese empire doesn't re-enact Pearl Harbor), the game can be over rather quickly.

But if you love games that go on forever, you can go for the board game of Civilization (one game can last entire weekends).

"A Game of thrones" (scenarion based on the novels) also is pretty intrguing.

However, a game I can highly recommend is "The settlers of Catan". Engaging, fun, and while a game can last for a while, it doesn't take forever either.

Before I got on my latest video game kick, I used to be addicted to board games.

    Favorites:

Ticket to Ride (my wife and I have two of the three versions currently available)
    Clue
Mystery of the Abbey (Clue on steroids)
    Risk
    Stratego
    Othello
    And Chess, of course

Board games were too competitive at our house. The game ended when someone finally kicked the board across the room. You don't EVEN want to hear about some of the fights we got into over The Game of Life or Monopoly or even Parcheesi. Single player video games were a god-send for families like ours.

No, that's what I meant. Scary as hell.

I always loved Risk and The Settlers [of Catan].

Never heard about Axis and Allies before, will see that I can give it a chance someday soon.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I watched it. That little kid rules. He hits the ground so hard yet you can hear him say "I'm ok I'm ok" He doesn't care that he fell, he won the game.

God damn pimps and their shiny canes and fur coats. I've been looking at that Axis & Allies game and it looks amazing. Can someone describe it in detail?

Ticket to Ride is one of those that I am so close to getting I can see the box in my hand. I think I'll go with the first one and then if I like it pick up the Marklin set later.

Parcheesi was ruthless at our house... I only played simplistic board games as a kid: Mouse Trap, Sorry, Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, Life, etc... The only games with any real depth that we had were Parcheesi, Monopoly, and Chess. This thread makes me want to discover an entirely new side of board games.
