Genesis Annoying Sega Genesis placement problem.

    Ok, Heres the deal.

I just put a cable box in my room and I assumed I would just put my model 1 on top of it but I noticed that it gets REALLY hot. Now I don't know where to put my Genesis because the top shelf has my PS2 and DC on it.

Is there anything I can put on the cable box to seperate the Genesis from all that heat the box is pumping out?

I'm thinking about removing the dam cable box now because I don't watch anything other than Lou Dobbs anyway. Whats the point of even having it

    This is great Thanks

I will look into getting one cause it would be a shame if I boxed up the old Genny considering I just bought 5-7 new carts.

Boxing a Genny is Blasphemy. You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking about it

Day 2, No solutions as of yet. I'm keeping my Model 1 on a stand on top of my cable box so the heat doesn't get to it but the stand is too high. So high I can't insert / removes carts easily..........There must be a way.

Na, I don't have enough space to work with. I think the best way is the glass spacer that Flaxswe brought up.

i always moved my consoles onto the floor infront of me while playing, stayed cooler and could reach the reset button. (or SMS pause button)

cables were too short back then to do anything else anyways.
    you using wireless controllers?

I don't use wireless controllers it is on the bottom shelf of my wall unit. I'm just worried that if I keep my 20+ year old genesis on my extremely hot cable box I may fry it.

Scientific Atlanta cable boxes get obnoxiously hot. Also, vents are on the top, so NEVER put anything on top of them!
Customized Sega Genesis Model 1 - VA3. Energy efficient with buck converters instead of LM7805's.

I have no room to put it anywhere else.

I guess I have to keep looking for a spacer of some sort. Thanks for the help all.
