Default How much did you pay for your Sega CD?

I've been looking around for a while for a sega cd, but imo the prices are outrageous. Like up to 150$.

Got in contact today with a dude on blocket.se (swedish trading site).

He was selling a SMD1, Sega CD model 1. A few games and a couple of controllers for 2200SEK (like 270$)

I asked him if he sold the CD alone and he wants me to put an offer.

    What is it worth?

I got it at release, like 300 dollars, as a Christmas present, but even though I didn't pay for it I think of it as a waste of money!

Not sure how much it was. Parents got it for me for my birthday many years ago. It's a model 2 though so it was probably a little over 200.

I got my model 1 for £33 ($52) on eBay UK some weeks ago. That excludes the shipping, which added quite a bit more. I would offer around 500-700 Swedish kronor. It is kind of hard to put a value on it, it can vary from just a few hundred kronor up to a thousand or so.

I got mine in an ebay lot about 3 years ago for about $130.00.

It came with a model 1 genesis, a set of ir controlers, about 15 complete
sega cd games, about 20 complete genesis games, and a complete ram cart.

Got mine for $5 at a local games/music pawnshop in June 2006. It came with just the Sega CD 2, a Genesis 1, the expansion block for Genesis 1s and the metal plate that attaches to the bottom of the system, and one power supply for either system. It wasn't gauranteed to work, though... not for that price.

I already had a Genesis 2 with power supply, RF connector, and controllers, though, so that it didn't come with any controllers or a second power supply (given that you need two) didn't bother me.

Fortunately, while that Genesis is busted (power light turns on, screen goes black, then nothing), the Sega CD worked perfectly, once hooked up to my good Genesis, and still does (even the internal save is still fine! There were some files on it when I got it, actually, interestingly enough... Lunar 1, don't remember what else. I had to delete them to save my own games.). So yeah, I was lucky...

back on topic though about what i would pay for a model 1 sega cd. 50 bucks the most. i'd avoid one altogether though unless you just want it for a show piece. if you want one for gaming though go with a model 2 sega cd.

I'm still looking for mine, but the place near me (Next Level Video games) has Model 2s for $50, which is so-so. I would probably value:

    Model 1=$50-60
    Model 2=$40-60

You could always get a broken one off of eBay for like $15 though and try to fix it. I wonder how that would work out.

Thing is 90% of the time when a model 2 is broken it's the fuse. With the model 1 though is it the same? or do the mechanical cd drives also go in those?

You might wanna check this place out Baloo. They sell Model Sega CD2s for 32$. I'm not sure what they charge to ship hardware, but I've ordered from them before and there shipping prices are pretty reasonable and good prices on all the games. you might wanna call or email them though first though before placing an order as they don't update the pages very often.

I purchased a huge Sega lot a few years ago, and I am currently in possession of 2 model 2 Sega CD units. I would estimate that I paid about 10 to 15 dollars for each one.

I also paid ~100 dollars for an X'Eye, which is my current rig.
