I'm still working on this. I have been working daily on this project and hope to have everything squared away soon. I am having a little trouble getting the layout for the full smd version done. I'm trying to get it to the point that there are no vias and make it as small as possible. If anyone out there is good with eaglecad and wants to help out please let me know. I am also still waiting for my smd op amps and transistors. I have all the other components necessary for completing this board. Unfortunately I work retail and this is a bad time of year for free time.

I'd really like to begin the "Can Sega-16 beat every Genesis game in 2013" Thing with crystal clear audio

Is there an easy to find equivalent out there? My board looks great but those transistors stick out way to much. It looks bad with such a nice low profile board with only four components sticking up.
I've been told that SSM2212 is one of the best SMD NPN supermatch pairs available. But it might be a bit overkill for the job

Did a quick amperage reading on my birds nest CCAM today. Just to see how much work the extra 7805 is doing.

My crummy multimeter told me: <35mA. Most of the time ~32mA. Mostly bias current... by far.

The 7805 is definitely not under any stress. No wonder it sounds dead quiet

You can use 1K resistors instead of 470ohm ones in Vref maker but that can increase noise, but will definitely lower power use.

Wouldn't it make the current only ~3mA lower? Definitely not worth it. I'm quite happy with the 35mA. It's more than reasonable compared to the quality of the sound.

This is awesome.. Probably wont make much difference on a HDG model 1 though right?

Big difference, but it is not compatible with MD1

I'm sure you've probably covered it before ,so I apologise in advance, but is it not possible for some reason?

So this will make better quality sound than a Model 1 Genesis?

That part referred to the headphone amp in MD1 not the YM itself. REason this wont work on MD1 is that the YM has a different kind of output that the CCAM cannot talk to...

YM = YM2612, the FM sound chip in the Genesis/Mega Drive
CCAM = Crystal Clear Audio Mod, the very mod being discussed in this entire thread
