For one, fusion seems to lack the bass (even with the filter turned on), of course this is due to the filter on the early M1's. TmEE's audio modded M2 is cleaner than the best M1 (the ASIC is inherantly superior to the discrete YM2612 plus there's no headphone amp to go through), though this lacks the bass as well (inless filters are added as part of the mod), but that's part of what makes it cleaner as well. I'm not sure on the CDX, though its supposedly the cleanest of any stock Genesis/MD system (albeit quieter).

In any case, in comparison to Fusion, this is just what I remember reading, others (like TmEE) could better explain this. (I think one reason would be that the YM2612's sample rate for the FM channels is 50 kHz -higher on the ASIC I beleive, so Fusion wouldn't be able to match this as it's limited to 44 kHz)

Either way, it's a bit difficult for the average person to tell the difference after a certain point. (granted a system that's not in pristine condition, particularly with a bad headphone amp or dirty volume slider on their M1, will have other issues)

My asian version MD1 with 32X. Didn't want to drill holes in the case so used a jiffy box for the 50/60 and region switches, composite video, S-video, stereo audio and also relocated the multi AV out for connection for the 32X, these are connected using the EXT port and original AV port. Blue LED of course.

The 32X has had the region switch added. Need to make a label for this.

My master system 2 with AV out, S-video, AV multi out (using a MD1 socket), 50/60 and region switches, Blue LED fitted into the power switch, pause on control port 1 (modified MD control pad for this), also FM sound board (yes lol about my FM/AM label). Need to replace the labels on this as they are getting a bit tatty.

I play these guys through the multi AV out with SCART lead (MD2 SCART for the 32X, MD1 SCART for the SMS2) into a 2 into 1 SCART box then into a SCART to Component box. Then onto a Sony 66cm trinitron CRT TV. Looks great!

To this TV I also have a PS1, SNES and N64 as well.

I think I wasted my money on it. I paid about $80 for the 3 separate components, but now if I wanted to sell it I'd get $20(then again, the average Craigslist buyer has their head up their ass, and no way would I take less than $80 for the setup).

It's not modded, I see it as useless to video mod an old system.

Here's mine! Note superbig red switches for the region mod on top of the Genesis. Who says you have to hide them away on the back?? There's also a scart to component converter in the back for better video

No way, $80 sounds like a fair price for that much gaming goodness.

Anyway, I use both an HDG Genesis and an X'Eye along with a 32X. I was originally going to sell the model 1, but I changed my mind and then modded it with the English/Japanese language switch and widened the cart slot. Since then I've been playing the model 1 more than the X'Eye, although I wouldn't get rid of the X'Eye for the world.

I have 3 Mega Drives jp first model, one Mega Drive 2 jp model. I also own one X32 jp and one Mega CD first model, but actually I keep in their boxes.
I modded two of my consoles, making a small circuit to get external stereo sound and S-video.

the circuit - looks big, but it's just only 4.5cm (I use this one to test, that's why it's looks bad)

and my machine, with the adaptors to play US/EU and JP Master System with S-video, and a MD flash cartridge.
