Knuckle Duster: my opinion of you is improving by the day

Forget all this pissy thing. A guy tried to take me to court over "damaged" cds he purchased from me 6 months ago...

Funny that it took him 6 months to tell me they were "damaged". Of course they weren't damaged (only if he damaged them himself)

After the responses he got from me wanted to purchases the rest of the CDs I had for him and wanted "no falling out" after he had threatened me with court

    People...

    You'd be sick of them..

What a jerk. How could anyone treat a seller that way and still seriously expect to buy from them?

It only took him 12 minutes of waiting for some feedback spawned self gratification, before he posted about 'Smashing his NES games'

Diosoth ... Fuck off and grow up.
Word. This guy seems nearly as tightly-wound as that 17days fellow. Take a chill pill, maaaaaaaaaan.

Diosoth, didn't you quit this forum 'cause we're all pirates or something? I seem to remember that...

don't equate me to this douche. He apparently doesn't know how to make a sale (eBay, DUH!) and thus feels the need to complain about it online.

I'm the voice of basic logic and reason trying to dispel all of the conspiracy bullshit circulating the internet, not the one complaining that my stuff isn't worth what my dreams and starlight estimations say they are.

That dude (the craigslist buyer) is absolutely right, some opened used toys aren't worth a damn thing. All you need to tell him is "I was looking for more" and move on to the next offer or find another selling method (eBay, Half, Amazon, etc.). If you're too cheap/lazy to post it on eBay and ship it to a willing buyer, why do you deserve top dollar? Don't half ass it and get pissed about it.

Well I just mean that you seem to flip out a lot is all. I agree though, as far as I've been able to tell you at least know what you're talking about. This guy just seems to throw forum tantrums and expect everyone to get all up-in-arms about it. I think this is the second time he's contemplated giving out some "asshole's" e-mail address. Like we're supposed to give a shit and go all torch and pitchfork on the guy's ass, or something.

I wish I could tell him "Who the fuck do you think you are? Now, sell that damn thing cheaper!!", but I know it would blow my chances.
Who are you to decide what something is worth? This is just like when I sold Bounty Bob Strikes Back for the Atari 8-bit computer in a lot for $150. Apparently it was worth $150 to someone because it sold with a buy-it-now in like 2 days. I hadn't even received any offers yet. AtariAge ripped me a new one saying I was charging too much, etc. etc. Well I found it, its worth alot to someone, why don't I deserve a finder's fee? Do people that find diamonds only deserve $2.50? Essentially, any time you find a rare game and sell it online, you are being paid a finder's fee to save that person the trouble of tracking it down themselves. Depending on your income, etc., its often more advantageous to pay $20 for a game rather than spend time and gas driving out to pawn shops/flea markets/game stores/garage sales to try to get it for a few bucks less. If that's what you enjoy, more power to you, but many people just want to own/play the game and have better things to do than hunt for a game they enjoy.

If it's worth $50 to the seller, it's worth $50 to the seller, so you deserve a deal because you said so? In an eBay economy, its very simple, the product will sell for what people think it is worth. No one said collecting video games is supposed to be cheap. Most of the time it is, but that's just luck of the draw from people that won't play games older than current gen and want to clear up space and get some extra money. No one owes it to you to give you an eBay deal. I'm probably one of the biggest cheapasses on this forum and I love getting a deal as much as anyone else, but I don't expect people to bow down and give me a huge bargain when they have a rare/desirable item that someone would gladly pay a premium price for. If a game is truly overpriced, it will sit unsold until they lower the price, potentially missing out on buyers that would have paid $5 less and now can only sell it for $10 or $15 less.

Actually, I myself can decide what something is worth, at least what it's worth to me as buyer... Does that mean the seller has to mean my demands? Nope. Never said I "deserved" anything, it's just that personally, I'm not going to give his listing a second glance. Say for example, milk is $4 more at store A than it is at store B. To Hell with store A, they can just loose business. But it's not like he needs the money like the store does anyway, he doesn't care about moving the item either, he's just a sleazeball who wants to stuff his pockets with cash he got from selling some chump a piece of crap while calling it a diamond. Yes, I'll admit that some things I spend my time and money on is crap, crap I enjoy, but nevertheless crap and I'm not shelling out for it. I'm am a cheapass.

The guy selling the $50 Saturn game is probably going to have to keep relisting it for months at a time (I've seen it) before someone desperate enough comes along. Meanwhile, every now and then a copy will get listed for a decent price, but will still be hard to get ahold of because of all the people watching it (avoiding Mr.$50) to bid or snipe at the end... and you know as well as I, I'm not talking about rare Saturn games, not even taking about good ones. If people suddenly decided they wanted $50 for every mediocre PSX port there was, it would be the same deal, and I guess some people would pay that too wouldn't they? If you ask me, the PSX should be the more expensive one... but I'm getting way off track.

I can tell you I would never buy any video game and pay more than $25 for it (besides a new release that I just had to have), most of the time I wouldn't give any more than my average of $5 to $10, maybe $15 for an old one. That's what it's worth to me. If I can't get it for that kind of money, I don't bother. Example: Panzer Dragoon Saga, fuck it, I'm never going to play that game.

Oh well, that's why I'm not a collector, I guess. They sling too much money around depending on how bad they want something. I know what I'll pay for things, be it milk, games, whatever. In the last year I've paid over $15 for a game maybe three times.

My buying doctrine is exactly the same, only if I can't get it at a reasonable price I'll just bootleg it (ROMs/Modchip/etc.). I intend to own a real copy of every game I ever intend to play, but the current reality is I just don't have that kind of money and I'm out of space, so its bootleg or do without for now.

I guess what you are trying to say is that you want to tell the seller "hey, stupid! you want to sit on that game for 2 years at $50 or sell it to me right now for $25?" and that's a matter of the nature of the listing. If he needs the cash, he'll charge less than the normal market price. If he is just posting to see if anyone wants it bad enough, he'll charge more. If he is in no hurry to sell it or doesn't really insist on selling it at all, he'll charge the amount that he feels is worth letting go of the game. I wouldn't let go of my original NES for less than $500 because its in immaculate shape and has a high sentimental value to me. Therefore, I would be wasting my time trying to sell it, so I don't bother. I can also see how these listings can be annoying as you are trying to find some good deals on craigslist and every N64 seller wants $100 for the system and $40 for each game, so you keep wasting your time and might never find a decent deal. Then again, thats the nature of collecting: searching until you find what you want at a price you want to pay. You could always download the ROMs from a bittorrent or buy them on Wii VC at a fraction of the price (not Saturn of course), but its not the same as owning the real game and being able to say you hunted down a real copy.

Still, I wouldn't call him a sleezeball, he obviously is in no hurry to sell it so he charges what it's worth to him or at least what he thinks he can get for it if he waits long enough. It's sort of like my friend with an FD RX-7 (car, for those that don't know). It's been for sale since roughly the day he bought it, but he's had it for about 4 or 5 years now. He's not in a hurry to sell it, but if someone comes along with the right amount of money, he's all for it. The bottom line is that the person willing to spend $50 for that game is probably glad to get it and they feel the $50 is worth it. As long as the seller isn't claiming they can resell it for that or that its actually worth that to an average collector, you can't really fault them. I take much more issue with the Wii VC charging $5 for an electronic download that costs 1/100 of a cent in bandwidth and maybe 10 cents in royalties from a game made in 1985. If Nintendo realized that lowering the price to 99 cents would make people buy every game available, they would make alot more money and have alot fewer pissed off customers accusing them of profiteering.

"I was sorely tempted to arrange a bogus meet with you just to make you waste gas, but you're not worth the trouble." - I'm sorry you didn't do this. Me and my friend arranged a bogus meet once to some assholes. Pissing off assholes = lots of fun!

I have really never had any bad experience with Craig's list. Heck, I have great experiences. One time I was going to buy a TV from this person, right? They kept offering to deliver but I said, "Nah, you don't live too far away". So I went to pick it up, and to my surprise it was an old lady :O. She baked me a pie and thanked me for saving her time. Then we flew away on a magical space train to Mars and talked with aliens who shot rainbows from they're nipples.

If you think that was true, then you are on something. Craigslist has always been hit or miss for me. I bought some games from a guy who was completely naked and growing weed or some shit in his living room. What the fuck. That was the worst experience ever. At least he put on clothes after a couple of minutes. Now I have 10 NES games that smell like weed. D:

I've heard this is a common experience with Craigslist.
