It just feels like we've been playing these games for the last 3 generations, albeit with prettier graphics. I have found myself becoming very bored with these current gen consoles. Maybe its just the summer drought of gaming.....

I still prefer 2D games or the newer games that play in an oldschool vein because alot of the 3D ones are either too vast with too much walking around, or too complicated or both. They really make me feel exhausted.
IMHO there are too many buttons on modern controllers (even the Wii) so that's a turn off for me. Also all these FPS's that are out-- I prefer simpler cartoony graphics and staright forward playability. Figuring a game out makes it much less appealing.
And menu screens?? Gimme a break. Put in game- turn on- play game. Sheesh. I haven't been a current gen gamer since about 1999. My newest console is the Gamecube; very disenchanted with modern games.

I have felt that way since the Saturn came out.
My newest system is an Xbox, and I managed to find some games on there that totally justify it being in my possession.
Not including "Outrun 2" (which is why I got the system)
Burnout 3 (custom soundtracks? jawusum!)
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (multi system I know, but being on Xbox is what matters)
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
Destroy All Humans 1/2
I put these games away for awhile until I return to them at a later time....which is a sign of a really good (and fun) game.
i pretty much agree with all the above. pixel rendering and old games have a certain charm newer games lack.

I'm feeling the same way. I used to get excited over every major release that came out, now I couldn't care less about most announcements. Really, I'm still largely enamored with sprites, so I still keep my eye out for those, but there aren't so many 3d games I can get excited about.
As nathan stated: Put in game- turn on- play game. This is what gaming should be about.
That's why I only play shoot'em ups and fighting games, the only genres that didn't succumb to the useless complexity of the newest generations.
Hmmm . . . I wouldn't say I'm turned-off by the current generation or anything, I just haven't played a whole lot of current-gen games lately. The most recent game I've played is the new Punch-Out!! on the Wii. No motion controls; just two buttons and a directional pad.
Yes, definitely.
More often than not I find myself sitting on my couch, staring at my collection of Xbox 360 and PS3 games and thinking, what in the hell am I going to play now?! Then I decide to either watch a movie or to pop a game in my Dreamcast. It's pathetic, really.
Well, I like a couple of the current-gen systems and games, Call of Duty is great, Fight Night is great, Smash Bros. is great, Mario Kart Wii is great, Super Mario Galaxy is great, but the bulk of the current-gen games (especially Playstation) suck.
I've been enjoying Fallout 3 for like the last 8 months. With the steady stream of downloadable content it's definitely keeping me entertained.
