Surely a better attempt would be to port to the DS, as opposed to a dead console (irony?). Simply saying 'fuck you sega we can do better' isn't really saying much.

Sonic has been ported so much, we're going to ... produce another port. THAT'll show 'em something

The best part of saying "fuck you SEGA, we can do better" is that it's true.

Sega didn't actually do the porting though, they just licenced it.
6 days older than SEGA Genesis

Add to that the fact that someone who cares enough to do this in their spare time for free is obviously different from a software team with bills to pay and a schedule to keep; I'd imagine that, faced with the decision to either keep the game in development for another three months and really make those Green Hill Zone flowers rotate correctly, or ship the game that's already finished and in a playable state, the choice is obvious. All the angry Youtube comments in the world about how Sega owe their true fanbase the perfect Sonic game or some other crap won't make a world of difference.

I don't know, man. I've played Dark Castle.

Yeah, it was just proof that Sega simply weren't trying at all, I guess, and it just felt particularly satisfying in this case because Sega's port was such a slap in the face to fans, not simply being a mediocre port of the original game for Sonic's anniversary, but a downright horrible one. Don't know how long it took Stealth to make it, though.

Im guessing that since SEGA isnt in the console race no more, they dont really care about the quality of thier games. Although there are rumors of a possible comeback, i doubt they will get any better.

QFT. This could be relevant to the thread about Sega's downfall.
