I'd prefer a flashcart right now, but that's because I just started collecting games and don't have many to play.
Great forum BTW, full of good info.
I Prefer the original games though a flashcart would be nice for hacks, protos, and homebrew.
The only commercial games I used on a flashcart are ones that I owned on Virtual Console that I didn't own on console (don't sue me).
Other than that, I just use it for games that you can only get on the internet.
Flash Carts are cool, but I would never use them for anything more than awesome bootleg games.
I have a flashcart, but it didn't keep me from still buying games. But it comes handy for travel, that way I only have to pack my Nomad and one cartridge instead of many. And for tournaments it's perfect, because then you can play anything.
The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?
I think I'd only ever use it for, like everyone else has already mentioned, rare, unreleased or hacked games as well as a game I wouldn't be willing to take out of it's case were it factory sealed, or something fragile.
I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to collecting for my Genesis. I don't want every game for the system but there's a hundred plus titles I have on my "to buy" list. I insist on nothing but original mint CIB copies of Genesis games and I'm willing to pay through the nose if necessary. I am not interested in emulation or any such imitation. I only want the original games on the original hardware.![]()
I like both. I have a CycloDS flash card for my DS, but I still buy all the games that I play.
I get the best of both worlds: the convenience of having all of my games in one simple to use, compact format, and I get to actually own my games.
I'd buy one just to play Eliminate Down and Gleylancer, but like *almost* everyone else said I would still collect carts. Movies, and music and tv shows are one thing, but I'll be damned if I don't own the original cartridge.
