I was cool because I had the games in school

Mida sa loed ? Nagunii aru ei saa"Gnirts test is a shit" New and growing website of total jawusumness !
If any of my images in my posts no longer work you can find them in "FileDen Dump" on my site ^
But the weird part is that before Highschool everything was cool,
we used to talk about that new awesome TMNT game for C64 and this one guy would bring
his MSX pirate cart to school that had like 20 games on it.
then just 1 year later in Highschool smoking was cool and of course at age 13
everybody had already fucked a shitload of womenz and done drugs and blablabla
oh man so many of my old classmates were fucking idiots back then. (and probably still are)
I think its mostly the fault of people who could not understand that gaming was seriously becoming part of pop culture.
like music and movies and tv.
hell even these days people still think that cartoons are just for kids,
even though there are a lot of good animated series/movies that are for both kids and adults.
(like that new Turtles cartoon from 2006? until they changed the format and went into the future that cartoon was pretty cool)
I don't think its even about games or cartoons, its all about power and trying to gain the upper hand on another person.
Mental opression so to say.
Problem is vamp, in high school, most people follow the crowd. I've always had a strange admiration for the over the top nerds. Let me describe 2 people to you.....
1. Doesnt give a damn what people think of him. Loyal. Passionate about their hobby. Intelligent. Follows their own rules.
2. What others think of them rules the way they live. Just want to be in the "it" crowd. Makes stupid decisions to please others. Not very loyal. Lemming.
If you think about it, the stereotypical nerd fits the first description and the so called "cool people" fit the 2nd. I thought that the idea of being cool meant you had qualities in the first description.
Screw em all I say.....At my high school reunion, the gorgeous girls in high school had aged so horribly and most were overweight. Same with the guys. The lesser known kids seemed to have aged less and looked good for their age. Its funny how life works out.
haha I had the same experience, the class bitch with the big mouth had become an old wrinkly woman. (at age 30 no less)
and that other guy with the big mouth and the blonde hair had become a wrinkly old bald midget.
and when i walked in, oh man i had grown so much i towered over everybody.
(while back then i was the smallest kid in class)
yeah, funny how life works out.
I wasnt a nerd in high school, I was just one of those kids that no one knows is there....Most of my friends went to other schools and I just kinda kept to myself.....I didnt party, never drank or did drugs, I didnt stay out till the morning....I guess I should thank my Genesis for helping me be 35 with the face of a 25 year old......
If it doesn't prove anything then why report on it? Sure it might reveal areas of future research, but even still why report on it?While the study helps "illuminate the health consequences of video-game playing," it is not conclusive, its researchers say, but rather serves to "reveal important patterns in health-related correlates of video-game playing and highlights avenues for future research."
I feel the same way about this as I feel about the media reporting on things that cause cancer. Every single day I hear about something new on the radio that supposedly causes cancer, including being tall and being male (both are characteristics that I have), so how are you supposed to not get cancer then?
It's ridiculous.
Sounds like me, though i didn't have that many friends other then these 2 brothers where i used to go on Saturday's to play Snes games.
(they had a wildcard dx so we always had a shitload of games to choose from)
I also never drank or smoked or did drugs or partied, just read and played games and rode around on my bicycle.
I wouldn't even call myself a nerd, i mean whats a nerd?
I never played D&D or spend every free hour in the library.
they probably thought i was a nerd though, cause i was quiet and played games.
I think society just enjoys labeling everybody, even though it doesn't work anymore.
ever since consoles and computers have become more and more common,
the real definition of what a nerd is has ceased to exist.
Perhaps it was because of the columbine massacre that people now look different towards loners/gamers now,
because they realized that behind the mask of silence also lies a person capable of gruesome deeds.
Yet the more the lines fade the more labels they invent,
why does humanity desire these labels so much, why i ask.
Here's another thing I want to know, how many of these people were Wow players? Even though I'm quite aware that most WoW players aren't obese and depressed, but some people do spend too much time on it, thus making them more depressed.
this finally hit my local news this morning and I wanted to reach through the tv and ring the newscasters necks....The woman newscaster, in her thirties, acted shocked and used a sarcastic tone while telling the story. The male, in his late fifties, commented after she read the report "Depressed? Wonder why?".
God I wanted to kick their ass......
Isn't the average American and/or Canadian overweight now, regardless of whether or not they play video games?
