Back in middle school I used to watch the TV show all the time. It was great. I can't believe it went on for 6 seasons.

And if you feel like watching the movies I would suggest you just start with the first one. If you like it then go to the 3rd one but like I said above the 3rd movie is more of a reboot. Meaning the same story as Highlander (1) with different characters. Kind of like Escape from New York and Escape from LA. They are both the same movie just told in different ways.

Yeah, ive read a bit of the plot synopses from the movies, I might watch them some time, something to think about. But really I'm not all that tempted, particularly as there's plenty of other movies I've been wanting to see. (we've got netflix so it would be rather easy -especially if it's available in streaming, or there's just downloading...) Still, lots of other stuff that I'd be more interested in finally seeing, and some TV shows I haven't caucht up on.
That got me thinking though, we (the family) need to get around to watching some Bruce Campbell stuff, especially his independent films (my name is bruce, bubbahotep, and the like) and the rest of the Evil Dead series (I've seen most AoD, but not 2, and the others haven't seen AoD though). Last year we ended up renting the entire Brisco County series though. (we watched when it was new, but I don't think we;d seen some of the second season, or the first season finale, awsome to watch again either way)

    I digress

On topic, I think a good action-adventure type game would fit the series well.

When I was a kid we used to watch Highlander the Series all the time. I was too young too watch the movie so that was my big introduction. They actually filmed a big part of it in Vancouver (and of course Paris) so they always showed it on local TV. I remember when I was about 10 I saw Jim Byrnes on the street and ran up to say hi to him and talk about immortals. He was a really nice dude to a little punk kid

As far as the movies go I don't think there is any point to watching anything other than the original to be honest. The backstory in the series and the original movie work on their own and don't need any extra stuff. For that matter absolutely avoid Endgame and the other Adrian Paul movie. I remember in Endgame it was so bad they used the same sequence twice in the end fight. It was quite long too, they didn't even flip the negative.

Ya, I wasn't sure if I should buy Endgame yesterday but I said what the hell. I'm looking to get at least 1 or 2 Highlander seasons box sets just for some good old nostalgia purposes.

Edit: All the episodes are on Hulu, I was just watching a few of them.

Nunzio, While I was watching Endgame I saw in the final battle how they reused the scene you were talking about. It was so blatant. I wonder how that made the final cut. Either way they are fun movies. I think that Endgame had a lot of fresh new ideas then the originals. I wonder how the remake of the first movie is going to be.

I think digital editing is to blame. These days it is so easy to just copy and put scenes in willy nilly. I hate to blame the editors because they had to look at it so long of course they make mistakes, but how did the people at the studio not notice? Did they not screen the film at all before release? I still preferred it to Highlander 3 myself.

I have pretty high hopes for the new Highlander remake. Apparently from what I read the Iron Man writers are doing it, and they know how to adapt a story pretty well I'm a little shaky about how far in they are going to go. You could see in the Highlander game preview screenshots Vesuvius blowing up, which is of course the result of the last battle fought on holy ground. While it was a very cool anecdote for the watchers in the TV series, I don't think we need to go back and 300 it in a video game. Or a movie...

Mostly I am concerned about direction and cinematography. I think the first Highlander film is one of the most aesthetically wonderful films of all time. The cuts from past to present, the shot coming out of Connor's eye at the beginning, the sweeping track shot during the final battle... oh my god it really was stunning. Who could expect less, Russel Mulcahy did music videos before Highlander so he knew how to make normally boring shots very interesting.

The series and sequels didn't carry it over though, which is why I will always consider the original movie the best all around.

Then there is the question of music...
