it kinda makes me sick how everyone in the movie theater was laughing to the brutal violence like mindless soulless beings

I haven't seen it yet but the whole concept seems a little odd to me. German students were executed just passing out anti war pamphlets back then. I'm not sure how anyone could just go around killing NAZI in Germany. I know it is just a movie but it is a pretty touchy subject for some people.
As for the amount of hyper violence these days it really doesn't surprise me. Every week they are spewing some new horror movie with the latest innovative ways of killing people, and now in 3d.
the world is coming to an end
Welcome to 2009. Immorality is king and being selfish is the new cool!
I'm sorry you had to witness that. I'm almost positive though that the people are so desensitized to violence that we are going to make the jump from cage fighting to gladiatorial pits just like in the good old days.![]()
It strikes me as odd that someone with the screen name "Streets of Rage," a game about bludgeoning people on the street to death without any substantial evidence of being guilty of a crime, would be the one to object to violence in a movie.
If you've seen ANYTHING by Tarantino, you know he doesn't puss out when it comes to violence. For a Tarantino film, this was practically violence-less.
I was, however, also a little off-put about the audience's reaction. Everyone just seems to think that EVERYONE enlisted in the German army was an evil bastard and that its OK for them to be murdered by even the most inhumane of ways.
I took extreme objection to the audience's reaction when Brad Pitt's character shoots the German soldier in the tavern while the soldier was celebrating his newborn son. He agrees with the soldier to put his gun down to take the girl out of the bar, and the German agrees to put his own gun down, obviously only wanting to save his own life so he can see his son, and Brad Pitt's character shoots him. I'm not saying there was fault on Tarantino's part as that seems like an accurate reaction for Brad Pitt's character, but the audience should've found that to be a distasteful action rather than laughing or applauding.
One other big hypocrisy I find is Nazi/Hitler/WWII vs. conflicts of today. You will not find a single person on the street that would say "no" to the opportunity to kill Hitler before the start of WWII. At the same time, you talk about Saddam Hussein, a man that murdered his own countrymen amongst other crimes and they say we shouldn't have had anything to do with it. WHAT? Granted, there is alot of ambiguity and finger pointing, etc. but that's just it. I would argue we know even LESS about Hitler than we did Saddam, so how do we know he was actually the ultimate evil history portrays him to be? In both cases our knowledge is limited because its all confidential US military information. No one outside of military command really knows everything that is taking place, we can't, because if everyone in America knew EXACTLY everything that was taking place (as if such was even possible, and its not), all it would take is one person to sell those secrets to the other side. Even the biggest of hippies would agree to killing Hitler, so why is this so different? Unless you have a huge discrepancy to point out as a difference, how about showing a little consistency in your viewpoint, otherwise, you're just a douche talking out of your ass.
...what? First of all, define immorality. My definition of morality is basically that a moral person isn't a piece of shit to others without just reason. From that definition, I would say most places are getting better or at least staying even. Our society is less materialistic than it was for many years prior. Sure, LA will always be a douchefest, but other places are changing.
This was probably one of the least violent Tarantino flicks... at least as far as violence shown onscreen is concerned.
That was the point I think. (My opinion) Tarantino just painted the Nazi's the same way the Nazi's painted Jews, as all inherently bad. Now obviously that's not true, the movie is far from a lesson in history, so lighten up, it's just a Tarantino movie.
Personally it was the only Tarantino movie that I liked, I even watched it twice. I heard that Eli Roth directed "Nation's Pride," the movie playing in the theater, making it all that much more awesome.
I think there is just way too many of these WWII films / Video games. I think they need to move to a different storyline. Yes, we know. Nazi's are bad. I hope these people know that there is more to Human History then from 1930-1945. Jeez!
I don't understand the whole "Person who isn't a piece of shit to others"......This is my definition of morality and I'll try not to get too biblical.
Moral:
Faith
Charity
Benevolence
Justice
Sagacity
Prudence
Temperance
Resolution
Truth
Liberality

Hope
Valor
Courage
Fortitude

Immorality:
Lust
Gluttony
Greed

Envy
Pride
Acedia
Indifference
apathy
Corruption
Cowardice

I love how the word douche is so popular now. Thanks southpark for making an entire generation of jaded and pathetic shit talking hipster robot smart-asses who cannot see past their own self importance or need for instant gratification.
Its a Tarantino movie you should expect the violence, and Immorality. He does it in all his movies. For example in Resivoir Dogs Michael Madsens character cuts off a cops ear and soaks him in gasoline (this was back in 1992). you cant say that this shit just started with people laughing at violence or the amount of violence in movies. As far as horror movies go and new innovative ways to kill people that just baffles me because when i watch a horror movie people usually die in the same fashion.(guns, blades, traps) the only movies that are different are the Saw movies.
I love how South Park is so popular now. That show provoked a generation of non hipsters to speak out against shit talking, robot smart-asses, who cannot see past their need for self gratification, but at the same time prove that they are essentially the same as the people they call out, only not as hip.
In all seriousness I must be in a backwards, bizarro thread. This is about a Tarantino movie, right? Absurd amounts of violence and uses of vulgar terms like "Douche" are not only ok, but expected in his movies and when talking about his movies.
she did. brad pitts character was actually gonna ablige by the rules they made.
