Default Castlevania ReBirth Coming to a Wii Near You!

    http://www.destructoid.com/more-wall...d-148456.phtml

I think this is great news. I love the "metroidvania" style that the series has displayed over the last decade, but I miss the level to level structure that made the 8 and 16-bit games so fun. And based on Gradius ReBirth and Contra ReBirth, I can't wait for this game to be released.

I just never liked the whole metriod/exploration genre. I never know where to go and I'm always afraid that I missed some important item or weapon. I really prefer the linear paths of the old Castlevanias.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

Sweet! Looking forward to seeing more of this one. I'm sure it will be worth the $10.

    Two things:

I hope it's better than what I've read of Contra: Rebirth. I've heard mix things about that one. And I hope it isn't a remake of Castlevania: The Adventure. That game suuuuuuucked.

Contra Rebirth isn't bad at all. Short, yes. Bad, no.

I think a lot of people today are taken aback by the one hit kills. Shows how much Contra they've played.

I'm getting a Wii again soon, since my daughter is unrelenting in her begging. I figured the VC and WiiWare will be for me, and I've been interested in Contra, Gradius, and now this. Heck, Konami is single-handedly leading the WiiWare charge!

It is probably the easiest Contra you will ever play. Normal difficulty will give you a decent challenge, but certainly nothing the average gamer can't beat with a touch of persistence. If you want a Contra-style challenge, set it to the hardest difficulty right away. Still not as tough as Hard Corpse, though.

I fainted when I saw this. I then woke up and fainted again because it is such great news.

Awesome, now if Konami would just release a compilation disk (I have dial up), I would go out and buy a Wii. Something I never thought I would do.

C:TA is an acquired taste. I was initially put off by it as well, but once I read some FAQs and ran through it a couple of times I found it to be a decent game. The sequel however, completely blows it out of the water and is, IMO one of the best B&W Game Boy games ever. I'm still amazed that a friggin' Game Boy could pull off the music that Konami did in that game, the composition is AMAZING, rivaling some of the best NES soundtracks out there:

Back when I only had a Game Boy Pocket, I wore the hell out of this game. Why they haven't brought back any of the GB CV's music in recent titles is beyond me. (And I don't mean just the "Game Over" music in HoD)

I watched a playthrough and it looked incredibly mediocre and generic and not any better than Contra III, Hard Corps, or a newer game like Shattered Soldier. If it was like $5 I might get it, but WiiWare is such a ripoff. $10? come on. If it was on the iPhone and not made by Konami, it would be 99¢.

"ReBirth" is a bad name. It's indirect admitting you've killed something, which is never good.

I love it. It's too short, and like Joe said, way too easy on the normal difficulty, but playing it on hard is a decent enough challenge without feeling cheap. The graphics are beautiful, the music is awesome, and the storyline is cheesy fun. It's like Konami all of a sudden gets it.

Worth $10 seeing as Contra 4 was $30 and not THAT much longer.

I like the music in level 3 in Rebirth. Sounds like a chintzy arcade board, but still pretty good.

    Posted on IGN.com today:
October 13, 2009 - Back in September, a ESRB listing tipped the world off to Castlevania the Adventure Rebirth. About a month later, and Famitsu has now confirmed the game and shared specifics.

Castlevania the Adventure Rebirth is a WiiWare remake of a 1987 Game Boy Castlevania game. Different from the past Gradius and Contra rebirth games, which mixed new and old, this is a true remake, with a full graphic renewal of the classic levels. The game also promises new monsters and newly arranged music.

While we can't share the screens from Famitsu with you, we'd suggest picturing something like Symphony of the Night in terms of visuals. The game is fully 2D.

Further details on Castlevania the Adventure Rebirth should be coming shortly. A Japanese release is set for October 27 at 1,000 WiiPoints.
Along with a (very small) scan from GoNintendo.com:

I'm not sure I'm happy that this is a remake of the GB game. From everything I've heard... it's kinda terrible. But of course that doesn't guarantee that the issues of the original aren't going to be fixed. I just wanted a completely new 2D level-based Castlevania.
