Default Light gun on a LCD TV

Recently, I dusted off my old Sega Saturn and hooked it up to my new TV. I hadn't played the console in a while (not once in about two years, to be exact). In the meantime I got myself a new 34'' flatscreen LCD TV.

So, I got out one of my favorite games, Virtua Cop. I even got two light guns, one a standart Sega Saturn light gun, the other a third-party controller called "Predator 2", which comes with a Reload-Pedal and even works with my PS2.

Problem is... both guns don't work! The game registers the guns buts acts as if I was constantly aiming off screen. After a little research I suppose that's the case because the guns use "Cathode Ray Timing" and therefor won't work with an LCD screen at all.

Well, after digging around a bit more, I found this (warning, image is a tad large in size):

This sucker claims to work with all kinds of screens. I don't know how this one works, though (maybe infrared emitters?). It's compatible with PS2, PS3, PC and Xbox, and connects via USB port.

It would be nice to have a working gun for my Saturn as well, though... I don't have the space to put up an old cathode ray TV. I suppose it's impossible to get this thing to work on a Saturn, no? (I have an inkling of hope since my Predator 2 gun works on both Saturn and PS2. It connects via the regular controller ports, though).

Light guns are designed to work with the 60 Hz scan of a standard definition CRT TV. LCD and Plasma displays refresh the entire screen simultaneously, so no beam scaning across for the gun to read. Likewise, CRT HDTVs with 100 Hz refresh rate will also screw things up as the scan is too fast. (though I think you can select 60Hz, at least on some models) I think CRT projection TVs will work OK, so long as there's the 60 Hz scan. (after all a lot of arcade light gun games used projection screens)

The only guns that can work on non CRTs are those that work inependent of the screen, like the Super Scope, which uses an infra red sensor bar rather like the wii pointer I beleive.

I know, that wasn't my question!

I was asking since this gun pictured above claims to be working on any screen, if it was possible to somehow make this thing work with a Saturn as well, not only on Ps2, Ps3, XBOX and PC.

It uses side bars. That's the only way you can have the gun work with wall projection. These guns have been around for a long time.

It's a pointer, similar to the Wii, and it shouldn't work on the saturn because it needs a driver to communicate with the console.
