    Default wonderboy 5

Sorry to get your hopes up

Is it possible to make a new wonderboy game with shion again.
If there was a team that was making a game like this can you call it wonderboy 5.
Or would you be in trouble by license and stuff or does sega just don t care anymore about that yust like the street of rage remake.
Cause if there anybody out there that s willing to make a new game or hoping also for a new wonderboy game why not make one.
And how do you start making a game like this what kind of tools do you need where to begin.

    Yes it is possible.

No, if you go by the Wonderboy title then Wonderboy in Monster World is already #5
technically speaking it would be Wonderboy 7 aka MonsterWorld 5

If i remember correctly the patent of Wonderboy/MonsterLandWorldetc lies with Westone Japan,
and not Sega, and its not that Sega "does not care anymore" its that they have a less harsh policy on Fan Games
    then other Gaming Companies.

    Like its that simple..

And how do you start making a game like this what kind of tools do you need where to begin.
Well knowing how to program would be helpful,
unless you go the gay way and use gamemaker or some shit like that.
or you could start a reverse engineering project where the goal was to create a source code of Wonderboy in Monster World and Monster World 4
then new games could be created for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis.

Or you could always ask the guy who did the Dragon's Trap Remake fan game if he'd like to go open source,
that would open up the way for pc fangames. (with the option to port to psp/dc/xbox/etc.

Sega released a Wonderboy / Monsterworld collection in Japan just a few years ago: http://ages.sega.jp/vol29/

The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

    Re: The Dragon's Trap remake:

I'll stick with the regular Dragon's Curse on the TurboGrafx-16/PCE. I have no need for the game to be harder or redesigned. I also take exception to the comment on the page linked to that said the FM version sounded better than the music that is included, which is the TG-16/PCE music. Yeah, right! That comment couldn't be more off base.

I'm also not a big fan of that.

That remake is pretty awesome, I can't even go back to the original after playing it. But I do prefer the PSG music.
