I haven't been following this thread, but I got the email that the game was shipping, w00t! Unfortunately I unpacked my Lynx and although it works, there seems to be lines in my screen now...

I think I'll probably Ebay a new system and get the game on my next payday

Just a little bump, since no one has posted impressions of the game yet. I got it on Saturday and have played it a few times, and it is quite good. If you've got a Lynx and you can see yourself buying a new game GET IT.

I'm not ready to say it's the best Lynx game ever, but it's the best one that I have in my meager collection. It fits right in as a shooter of the early 90's, it doesn't feel like a homebrew job to me. The stages are farily short but plentiful, and the boss battles are good and...unique. I mean... c'mon, one of the bosses is a giant toaster, flinging breaded goodness your way! The game is overall very imaginative, and it is worth the price of admission since it is one of the few games that come alone once in a while that is actually unique.

My only complaint that I have for the game isn't the game itself, but the platform- the Lynx screen, although it was top of the line in 1989, it sucks by today's standards. Thankfully the game was programmed with this in mind so you don't really have any problems seeing anything since everything is HUGE. I don't know that they could have done it on another handheld though, the only other handhelds that would be able to handle the gigantic boss sprites would be the GBA and newer systems.

So, in conclusion, yes, I like it

    Default I got Zaku !!!

Finally, after ~2 weeks of waiting I got Zaku

I have not had too much time to play the game, but I did some quick plays of each zone until I got game over and so far I have not been disappointed at all, its the game I got a Lynx for, hehe. The toaster boss is really hilarious, lot of fun and i'm more than sure there's lot of more wacky things coming

All I have to say about the other Lynx games I got with the Lynx :P

Get Zaku if you have Lynx and like shooters, you'll love this

you're not able to see the last image ?

A nice glossy and solid carboard box, and a glossy color manual, and a cart that only lacks Atari logo on the back, otherwise identical to regular carts. Superb build quality

This game is reeeeeeeally making me want a Lynx. I haven't played one in years, and I miss the thing. The Lynx rocked.

I would buy this in a heartbeat if I had a Lynx, but it's not enough to make me buy a Lynx. Still, looks awesome! Great job to the team, and good on ya for publishing it, Mr. Cobb.

I would say the build quality is superior to many official carts. Some of my atari carts have crooked labels, and you can see the outline of the chip in the middle. Not so on Zaku.

Thanks for continuing to share your enthusiasm about Zaku here at the forum, guys. We really appreciate your comments, photos, etc. It makes us feel great to know the game is being so well received and that everyone is really enjoying it.

Zaku finally gave me a chance to correct everything I didn't like about other new game releases for the Lynx:

** Instead of thick, ugly circuit boards, we published the game on a thin PCB encased within a near-perfect replica of the original plastic shells that Atari used.

** Rather than using an eyesore orange plastic case or worse yet a CD-case to hold the product, we went with the original box size and appropriately matching design.

** The instruction manual is full-color, easy to read and filled with useful and humorous information about the game. And like most of Atari's manuals, it is printed in more than one language.

** The game is big, bright, and beautiful - and while it is filled with neat graphics and great special effects, it uses them to enhance the gameplay, rather than using them in a manner more consistent with a tech demo. PenguiNet's focus was to create a fun, highly playable game. And that's exactly what they did.

We're very proud, and highly energized, to have been able to publish this game. Since first playing the Lynx many years ago, I dreamed of one day being a part of a product that would really push its power and make people say, "Wow!" And the feedback of some of you guys, here at this forum and at other forums, really puts a smile on my face.

    Thank-you for supporting our dream.

Well, keep releasing unique games and I'll keep buying them

Brandon, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not but you have single handedly driven up the price of Lynx systems on ebay. They were going for about $20 or so pre-Zaku, and now most of the working systems go for $40 or higher. I'm lucky I got an untested system for $16 and it worked great.
