Pc Torchlight - More "Diablo" than "Diablo 3"

    From the creators of Diablo:

    http://www.torchlightgame.com/

A $20 digital download budget title, grabbing high praise from Diablo fans. This could very well hold you over until Diablo 3 shows up.

Single player only, No online mode. but a lot of cool features like retiring characters for a re-roll bonus.

    Check it out.

Intel GMA 950s video chipsets should work, and later ones should have less issues. SiS video chipsets may give you great difficulty as well, or just not work. Hardware accelerated dedicated video chipsets will work better then software accelerated ones.

    Windows 2000/XP - 1.4Ghz - 1GB - 1GB - DirectX 9.0c - nVidia: Geforce 6200 or higher recommended w/128MB+ of RAM.

    Windows 7 - 1.4GHz - 1GB - 2GB - DirectX 11 - Most ATI or nVidia chipsets made in 2007 or later w/256MB of RAM.

Notice: Why did I make the HDD space requirement so high for Vista and 7? Because those OSes need about 1-2GB on their own to run properly, plus what the game needs.

I'm looking for a Demo link that doesn't involve "Steam."
Will post if I find one.

    The music = Pure Diablo.
They're working on franchising a sequel with standard MMO features due out in 18 months or so.

I hope this company doesn't go tits up with bankruptcy like most developers these days. Blizzard needs competition to stop focusing on world of warcraft.

It looks OK but I got LOKI at the moment. I'm not sure if I can handle 2 Diablo-esq games at once.

This game is really, really addictive.
It plays a lot like Diablo, and is very similar to Fate with it's pet system carrying over. (Same lead designer.)

I could only find the demo through steam, gave it a shot, and was hooked. So I bought it directly from their site http://www.torchlightgame.com/ as to give me the option of uninstalling the shit-bomb that is Valve's invasive windows service.

This game is an awesome single player dungeon crawler, well worth $20. If you use Steam, Check out the demo. It's open enough to let you get a good feel for the game.

It's not meant to be diablo or hit those expectations, but it's a pretty good steampunk flavored clone that is unique enough to likely to push the developer into running an established 'franchise'.

The first patch should be live soon, bug fixes on performance issues. Mostly load times. They're pushing out the dev tools soon too.

Looks fun but I'm not a big fan of the visual style. Too colorful and cartoony, not very memorable. Certainly doesn't look like Metzen designs.

http://www.torchlightgame.com/ now has the Official Demo available for download, no need for steam. Try this game. It's well worth the $20.

They also just released "TorchED" the torchlight editor used to build the game. The mod scene is picking it up in the forums which is snowballing into a ton of kick-ass projects. Anybody interested in modding should check it out.

It won't be long before a 'Diablo' mod is released

Speaking of PC games, I picked up Fallout Trilogy recently for 20 bucks. Might as well take advantage of the Bethesda-Interplay lawsuit!
