Ahh man, get on that one! It's probably my most played game of all time. It was the first game, before Shenmue or Grand Theft Auto or whatever, where once you loaded it up for the first time it was as if a whole other world existed and grew inside your system...even when you weren't playing. I still get that feeling with the A-Life system, where depending on how you interact with some of the periphery animals (and it's totally optional and often even accidental) that changes the tone of the music and the behavior of the creatures. Do this enough and it actually changes the number of animals in those dream worlds and how they interact with each other.

It's such an intricate system (and it takes up a beastly 197 bits of Saturn memory) but it's only an optional pursuit in the game. The real meat are the amazingly designed levels that can be played at such high speeds when you master it that it really puts even Sonic to shame. Really, this is the 3D game that Sonic has always wanted to be. The time and point attack on this game is just perfect - even after all these years there is still a dedicated core of us gamers at scoreattack.net that keep plugging away at it for high scores.

More than the growing, time sensitive world living inside the game, or the amazing control and level design, it's just the overall atmosphere that makes the game one of a kind. It literally is one glorious fever dream, where colors erupt, shapes distort and the world just seems endless. It sounds kind of tacky, but once you play it you'll see. It's probably the most beautifully imagined game SEGA ever put out. Add in multiple endings, FMV videos, crazy creative bosses and a really deep record book and a multitude of different pathways, and it really is the best.

I know it critically (and commercially) had a tough time debuting against Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot, but I do believe, to quote the other thread in this forum, it's wine has aged the finest of all.

I think I've played all my games at least once, except for "B-17 Bomber" for Intellivision. I have it because I like B-17's, but I don't have an Intellivision.

But my *MASSIVE* collection of five Master System games haven't been touched for at least 3 years. I should probably sell that stuff.

I know how that is, I have a sealed Hover Strike for Atari Jaguar CD, but do not own an Atari Jaguar or CD addon.... So that goes on my list, I even found that I have doubles of games that I haven't played either for the Saturn, Ghen War, Black Fire. They were just cheap and couldn't pass up some $0.99 games!

(and I don't mean "sealed" just never opened up and played)

Finally took a look at Virtua Racing and Duke Nukem on Saturn yesterday...

I'll list more that I'm sure I haven't played yet as I think of them.
I've done this also. Since I've become very wealthy and successful I've bought a lot of games at once. Some of which are still in their plastics, others I have opened and played yet never finished. I definitely understand where your coming from.

I have a copy of "Taz - Escape from Mars" that I never touched. I had ordered four games but received five; one game didn't have a manual unlike stated, so the seller threw in Taz for free. I'm still not sure whether this was a nice touch or I should be angry. Never tried the game.

    Hahaha!
It would be hilarious, except the game is is in pretty good condition and, as far as I can tell, complete.

Even had the warranty card & games catalog inside.

Not bad for a $5 find.

Pffffft. Your master system collection is WEAK compared to mine!

I got a PBC, Phantasy Star & Wonderboy.

    They're complete, but that's it.
No phazer... but I do have the 3D glasses card adaptor!

This thread keeps reminding me that I need to start playing more Genesis games.
